Materials:

Dinosaur craft

  • Paper Plate – Dollar Store
  • Wiggle Eyes – Dollar Store
  • Toilet Paper Tube – Recycled
  • Craft Paint – Bright Green, Kelly Green, Pink
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks 
  • Paintbrush
  • Sponge Dabber
  • Scissors 
  • Permanent Marker
  • Pencil with a new eraser
  • Ruler
  • PATTERNS Paper Plate Dinosaur

Dinosaur paper plate craft

Instructions:

  1. Gather all supplies. Basecoat the inside of the paper plate with bright green acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Dinosaur craft
  2. Basecoat half of the outside of the paper plate with bright green acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary Dinosaur craft
  3. Basecoat the outside of a toilet paper tube with bright green acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Dinosaur craft
  4. Measure the center of the length of the toilet paper tube and mark the circumference with a pencil line. Dinosaur craft
  5. Cut the toilet paper tube in half with scissors along the pencil line. Dinosaur craft
  6. Using scissors, cut a 1/2” long slit at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock on the top edge of both halves of the toilet paper tube. Cut a second slit right next to the first and remove the small section of tube by pulling it out with your fingers. Dinosaur craft
  7. Fold the paper plate in half and crease firmly, then cut the paper plate in half with scissors. Dinosaur craft
  8. Download and print the Dinosaur Patterns, then cut out with scissors. Trace the dinosaur head, tail, and scales onto the inside half of the bright green paper plate with a pencil. You could also use colored craft foam or craft felt for this project. Dinosaur craft
  9. Cut out the dinosaur patterns with scissors, making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project. Dinosaur craft
  10. Create a random polka dot pattern by dipping a round sponge dabber into Kelly green acrylic craft paint and stamping over the dinosaur parts, body, and legs. Set aside to dry. Dinosaur craft
  11. Attach one wiggle eye to the dinosaur’s face with a glue gun and glue sticks. Create one cheek by dipping a new pencil eraser in pink acrylic craft paint and stamping on either side of the face. TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry. Dinosaur craft
  12. Attach the head and the tail to the dinosaur body with a glue gun and glue sticks. Glue the scales onto the body and tail of the dinosaur. Dinosaur craft
  13. Secure the legs to the dinosaur body with a glue gun and glue sticks. Dinosaur craft
  14. To finish, draw a smile, one nostril, and toes onto the dinosaur with a black marker. Dinosaur craft
