Of course, I was wrong, she did want an owl — because sometimes you need something other than a turkey in November! It requires so few ingredients that you may even find yourself asking your kids to make it!
Sausage Cheese Apple Balls
My Sister-in-law always makes sausage balls for the holidays. It doesn’t matter what holiday (or event) it is, if she is there, we will be having sausage balls. Guess what we are having on Thursday? Yes, I decided you should be having sausage balls with me! Enjoy!

Beets is my new love and the perfect addition to this easy salad. When I was a child every salad was a chef’s salad and I never knew there were so many other options out there. Nothing smells better than homemade bread! It fills the house with an amazing aroma that nobody can ignore. Don’t skip the rolls just because your oven may be a little full. Make room, I promise these fresh rolls are worth it!

Stuffing with Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme
I don’t like cornbread dressing/stuffing … at all! Until I married my husband I was very anti-stuffing. I have since learned that when dressing is made without cornbread and by skipping that horrible (cough) red box, it is much much better! This recipe calls for white and wheat bread chunks and looks spectacular — I cannot wait to try it!
ABC: Apple/Apricot, Beet, Cranberry Sauce–Quick Take
I really love canned jelly cranberry sauce, but this ABC Sauce has my taste buds standing in anticipation for Thursday! Doesn’t it look beautiful? Is it Thanksgiving yet? (yummies)
Roasted Carrots
Roasted carrots are so good and add a great amount of color to the table. I also adore them candied, but since we will be feasting on a heaping bowl of sweet potatoes, I will be a good girl and go straight roasted with my carrots this year. To Simply Inspire has done such a beautiful job with these Roasted Carrots I know they will not allow me to miss my candied favorites.
Portabella Bacon Green Bean Casserole

I can almost remember the first time I tried green bean casserole at my grandmother’s house. I think I was about twelve and she stumbled upon the recipe on the back of a can of creamed soup. It quickly became one of my favorite dishes. The version I picked out for you this year should be called “Not your Nana’s Green Bean Casserole” because it is packed full of flavors my grandmother and I never would have thought of! Bacon, cheese atop green bean casserole? Yes please!
Slow Cooker Creamed Corn
This creamed corn is another “I need color” recipe. When thinking of your Thanksgiving table, think of the colors. What are the colors of autumn and how did these commonly known autumn colors come about? I think fall colors are derived from food so yellow goes on the table to make my Thanksgiving complete!
Southern Candied Sweet Potatoes
My Nana and I were the only two people in my family who loved sweet potatoes. Preparing them and eat them was always a special bonding moment for us. Do you have a special dish at Thanksgiving that you share with a loved one each year?
