Paper Plate – Dollar Store
Craft Paint – Black
Cardstock – Bright Green, Orange
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks – Dollar Store
Twine, White – Dollar Store
Paintbrush
Scissors
Pencil

Permanent Marker, Black

PATTERNS

Instructions:

Gather all supplies. Basecoat the outside of the paper plate with black acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
Download and print the black cat patterns, then cut out with scissors. Trace the cat body pattern onto the outside of the black paper plate with a pencil.
Cut out the body pattern with scissors, making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project.
Trace the cat head and tail onto the remaining section of black paper plate; trace the nose once and inner ears twice onto orange cardstock; trace the eyes twice onto bright green cardstock with a pencil. You could also use colored craft foam or craft felt for this project.
Cut out the patterns with scissors, making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project.
Draw a pointed oval in each of the bright green cat’s eyes with a permanent black marker.
Glue the inner ears to the outer ears, then attach the two eyes to the cat’s face with a glue gun and glue sticks. TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
Measure and cut three pieces of white twine that are 3” long each. These will become the cat’s whiskers.
Attach the whiskers in a crisscross pattern on the cat’s face with a glue gun and glue sticks, then glue the nose on top of the whiskers.
Draw a muzzle and smile on the black cat’s face with a white paint pen.
To finish, attach the cat’s head to the body with a glue gun and glue sticks, then secure the tail to the cat’s body.
