Materials:

  • Craft Sticks, Jumbo – Dollar Store
  • Wiggle Eyes – Dollar Store
  • Craft Felt – Tan, Brown
  • Marker, Black – Dollar Store
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks – Low Temp Works Best
  • Acrylic Craft Paint – Brown
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • PATTERN  (Print it here)

Craft Stick Horse Craft

Instructions:

STEP ONE: Gather all supplies. To create the horse, line up five jumbo craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the horse and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks. Horse craft

TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.

STEP TWO: Basecoat the horse with brown acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. Use washable markers, crayons, or even colored pencils to color the jumbo craft sticks.  Craft Stick Horse Process

STEP THREE: Download, print, and cut out the horse patterns. Trace the outer ears and two mane patterns onto brown craft felt, the inner ears and nose onto tan craft felt. Craft Stick Horse Process

STEP FOUR: Cut out the traced patterns with scissors, cutting inside the lines to create a clean finished project. Using scissors, fringe the long edge of the large mane pattern. Fringe the right and left edges of the small mane pattern. Craft Stick Horse Process

STEP FIVE: Attach the tan felt inner ear onto the brown felt outer ear with a glue gun and glue sticks. Glue the center of the small mane pattern and fold in half. Craft Stick Horse Process

STEP SIX: Attach two wiggle eyes with a glue gun and glue sticks. Glue the nose to the bottom of the horse. Craft Stick Horse Process

STEP SEVEN: Attach the ears to the top right and top left of the horse with a glue gun and glue sticks. Glue the small mane in between the ears, and the large mane to the right side of the horse. Craft Stick Horse Process

STEP EIGHT: To finish, draw two oval nostrils on the nose with a black marker. Craft Stick Horse Process
