Ingredients:
- 4 Croissants
- 12 Large strawberries
- 4 Small strawberries
- 1 Banana
- Blueberries
- Cheerios (optional)
- Goldfish crackers (optional)
- Toothpicks (optional)
Instructions:
- Place a croissant lengthwise on a plate or serving platter.
- Remove the leaves from two large strawberries, and use a knife to cut a large “V” shape from the center of the tip of each one. These will be the lobster’s claws.
- Cut a large strawberry in half lengthwise, and cut a rectangular strip from the center of each side.
- Press a toothpick up through the center of each rectangular piece and through the top of each claw.
- Press the other end of the toothpick into the Croissant to affix the claws to the lobster’s body. Alternatively, you can just lay the strawberry pieces in place and not use the toothpick if desired.
- Slice the banana into thick slices, and use a small piece of toothpick to push through the center of two blueberries, pressing one blueberry into the bottom of two slices of banana. These will be the lobster’s eyes.
- Use toothpicks to affix the eyes to the top of the croissant, or just lay the eyes in place on the plate if desired.
- Cut the top off of a small strawberry, and slice a small “V” shape out of the tip of it. Place the small strawberry with the “v” shape pointed down at the bottom of the croissant to form the lobster’s tail. You can simply place it there or use a toothpick to affix it to the croissant if desired.
- Decorate with your choice of blueberries, goldfish crackers, and/or Cheerios before serving.
- Be sure to remove all toothpicks if you are using them before allowing your child to eat the snack.
Things to Note:
- Can I use different fruits? Absolutely! Feel free to swap out the strawberries, banana, and blueberries for other soft fruits like raspberries, kiwi slices, or melon balls.
- What if I don’t have croissants? You could try using small rolls or even thick slices of bread as the base, although the croissant shape really lends itself to the lobster body.
- Is this snack allergy-friendly? This recipe contains wheat and dairy (in the croissant). Be sure to adjust ingredients based on any allergies in your family.
