Get Your Kids Ready for School with Screen-Free Teach My Learning Kits! #Back2School21

August 14, 2021 by Pam Maynard

School is on its way and before you know it, your kids will be back in the swing of things. How do you prepare them for this transition? The best thing to do is to start thinking about how they can get ready for school with screen-free activities. You will find some great ideas below.  Not only can you use the Teach My Learning Kits, but there are many other fun activities as well.

Get Your Kids Ready for School

After a crazy year of countless hours of online learning mixed with some in-person classes, this fall, kids will be going back to school full-time.  Do you feel like your Kindergarteners didn’t learn as well with Zoom classes? Do you feel like your kids spent way too much time at home in front of a screen over the break? Teach My can get your kids back on track for the new school year with their screen-free kits!

About Teach My Kits:

Teach My suggests screen-free educational play, just 20 minutes a day! Whether you have a baby, toddler, preschooler, or kindergartener, Teach My has a kit for you! Research shows the early years are a critical window for brain development and learning. Parents and caregivers can feel empowered when given effective tools that make an impact on their child’s future. The tools in the kit are simple and straight-forward making teaching your children fun for both the child and adult!

Fun screen-free ways to use Teach My to get kids ready for school

Letter matching:

The Teach My Kindergartener has 52 Magnetic letter tiles.  It also has a wipe-off spelling board.  Parents (or older siblings) can print a letter on the board and have your little one find the matching letter tile!  You can do this for upper and lower case letters.

Spelling Games:

My son used to love using Scrabble tiles to practice his spelling words.  Your kids can use letter cards or tiles to spell simple words.  If your littles need help with spelling, use the wipe-off board to spell a word and have your child find the correct tiles to spell the same word.

Number Matching:

The Teach My Preschool Kit is all about learning numbers and math.  Use the magnetic numbers to match the number on the card that comes in the kit.  This tactile and sight learning method really helped my son with his numbers and letter recognition.

Handwriting:

Writing letters and numbers is something that is very difficult to do on a screen.  Teach My kits have practice printing guides.  Get your kids to learn how to write their name and some of their favorite things.  I remember how excited my son was when he learned how to write his own name!

Here are some other fun screen-free activities:

  • Get them involved with physical activities like biking, hiking or swimming.
  • Go camping or take day trips around town without any electronics (make sure to pack books!).
  • Read more together as a family and talk about what they’re reading!
  • Teach them how to cook – it’s not only fun but also teaches valuable skills like counting, measuring, following directions, etc! Get some recipes from kids’ cookbook at the store
  • Go on nature walks and explore different types of plants/trees/animals.
  • Make Slime!

Teach My Kits are the perfect way to keep kids learning from home while having fun!  One of my favorite things about Teach My: it’s 100% screen-free! Kids are spending so much time online with remote learning restrictions, I love that there is a great alternative for our little ones.
