Dietary Changes to Address Your Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Thyroid Problems and Improve Your Fitness

The biggest advantage of being healthy is that you are able to be at your best at workplace and home by preventing many common lifestyle diseases. While there is no particular age at which any disease will strike, the consequences of contemporary lifestyles are seen to manifest in the early onset of conditions like high cholesterol and blood pressure, as well as thyroid issues. High Cholesterol

When you have high LDL cholesterol with a low level of HDL cholesterol, you are exposed more to the risk of cardiac disease. Typically, high cholesterol is due to a poor lifestyle, improper eating habits, stress, genetics, or even diseases like diabetes or hypothyroid. You can control blood cholesterol by monitoring your fat intake and restricting it to less than 30gm per day taking special care that saturated fat should not exceed 10%. Similarly, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acid consumption should also be limited to 10%.

Apart from the more visible fat sources like butter and oils, you need to know that several other foods like peanuts, dry fruits, coconuts, etc. also have a high fat content. Don’t eat red meat more than twice in a week and switch to eating chicken or fish for the rest of the days. The Omega-3 content in fish is very helpful in unclogging arteries and lowering cholesterol and triglycerides. Switch to skimmed milk to reduce fat consumption and eat foods with lots of fiber content to keep your digestive system in top working condition.

High Blood Pressure

Also known as hypertension, it is a condition that is indicated by elevated blood pressure which can lead to potentially fatal diseases like brain stroke or heart attacks. Apart from exercising, you can lower your blood pressure significantly by making alterations in your diet over time. One of the most important things is to cut down on your salt intake. Try cooking with less salt, avoid salty snacks and drinks as well as processed foods like sausages and cheese, and resist the urge to add table salt to your food when eating. Try to focus more on eating greens and fresh fruits to benefit from the higher fiber content. Switch to lean meats and fish instead of red meat and toned milk in lieu of full-fat milk. If you are building muscles, then switch to the best steroids so that your blood pressure is not affected.

Hypothyroidism

Low hormone production by the thyroid gland results in a number of conditions such as weight gain, feeling of tiredness, depression, and intolerance to cold, etc. You can increase your metabolic rate by cutting down on your sugar intake, eating less fried food and increasing your intake of wholegrain foods and vegetables. Having iodized salt is recommended.

While all the medical conditions described above can have very severe consequences on your health if left untreated, you can get on top of them by making the necessary changes to your diet and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
