About the VIZIO’s M50-D1 SmartCast Home Theater Display:
Tuner-Free home theater display- Play content from cable, satellite set-top boxes, game consoles, Blu-ray players and more. Amazing Picture Quality:
Yes, the Vizio has excellent picture quality! The LED Displays perform well in all lighting conditions. There are many settings to adjust your picture quality to the type of media you are playing. It also delivers plasma-like deep blacks and rich colors.
How does it provide that great picture quality?
It has 2160p resolution for breathtaking HD images! You can watch 4K movies and shows at 4x the resolution of Full HD, and upscale your current HD content to gorgeous, Ultra HD-level picture quality.
The high dynamic range (HDR) creates a more realistic picture. HDR technology expands the contrast and color range of the pixels on your display for better, brighter, more colorful image. The picture quality is noticeably more natural.
Because it has a 120Hz refresh rate, you can enjoy fast-moving movies, sports and video games with a minimum of motion blur.
One of the best features is full-array local dimming, which improves all-important contrast and black levels, and has better uniformity than edge-lit dimming. No other TV in this price range even has this feature! The 50″ screen has 32 zones, the 55″ and bigger screens have 64 zones. The more zones, the better your picture quality!

The VIZIO SmartCast™ M-Series Ultra HD Home Theater Display is now tuner-free. Most households commonly stream or watch live TV from cable and satellite boxes – neither of which requires a tuner, so you shouldn’t notice any differences in setup.
My hubby set the TV up in less than 30 minutes. It came with clear instructions which made it much easier than the last TV we set up! The Tablet took some time to get used to and we still don’t use it much.
Sound Quality:
The Vizio has an Advanced sound due to two 10W speakers and DTS Studio Sound. It also has 4 HDMI inputs for the best home theater connection. High-speed HDMI delivers up to 2160p picture and digital surround sound in one convenient cable. We weren’t as impressed with the sound quality as I thought we would be. Sometimes we have to turn the volume up much higher than we should have to and then it sounds slightly flat. With the sound bar, it’s much better.
We did have some issues getting our sound bar and surround sound system to work with the Vizio. It was not easy to connect them. Once we figured it out, having surround sound with the Studio Sound makes watching movies 100 times better!
