About the bowl

The PAW5 Rock ‘N Bowl is a great way to turn meal time into an enriching and rewarding challenge for your dog!  What looks like a standard bowl is actually a unique puzzle feeder that will have your dog thinking, problem solving and having fun all at once. By adding environmental enrichment to mealtime, you turn a routine part of the day into a fun brainteaser.  With our Simply Challenging design, just pour food directly into the top (as easy as a normal bowl), the food runs through a hidden compartment, and your dog has to paw, nudge, and play her way through mealtime (that’s the challenging part!).

Our Review:

As you can see in the video below, my son tried the PAW5 Rock N’ Bowl Feeder first- just so he could show the dogs how to use it!  I told him I would buy him a big bag of M&Ms if he helped me, so he did!

Then we let the dogs try it… they didn’t get M&Ms, don’t worry! My border collie loves any kind of toys that move.  He was the first to figure out how to get the kibble out.  My german shepherd is much more food driven, so she let him do all the work and then ate the kibble that spilled out.  They are a great team that way.  

Neither of our dogs are vacuum eaters but they do tend to get bored when eating.  We have used the bowl a few times a week, just to keep them interested and using their brain while they eat.  They really enjoy it.  The GSD, Kirek, she gets so excited about it, she jumps up just like she jumps up on the door when it’s time to get “her boy” from the bus stop!  It’s so funny.  Originally, the border collie, Marley, loved the bowl the most.  Now Kirek can’t get enough of it.

I like that it holds plenty of food- even for the biggest eaters.  You can fit 4 cups of food in there!  We watch a Bermese Mountain Dog 3 or 4 times a year.  She has actually had bloat once and we always use a slow feeder bowl for her.  She loves this Rock N’ Bowl puzzle feeder so much, her owners bought one to use at home!

Did you know that it comes apart and you can put it right into the dishwasher?  I love that feature.  

Not only is the bowl easy to clean, but it’s FDA-Compliant- it is constructed with BPA and phthalate-free plastic and Made in the USA!
