When we started making environmentally-friendly pet toys and beds, there wasn’t a guiding organization to help us grow our business in an Earth-friendly way—so we helped found one. The Pet Sustainability Coalition unites pet-driven businesses, providing them with resources so they can collaborate on advancing their business goals while maintaining their commitment to the planet. My Thoughts:
Our furbaby Maya has had a blast with her gift basket of toys. She is not usually a chewer, but she must smell something in these toys because she has been after them like no tomorrow.
It’s fun to watch her with them. I gave them to her one at a time over the course of a weekend. She would take them and play with the new toy for a little bit and then go place it beside her kennel.
We had this little dance all week where I would pick up her toys and place them in her kennel and she would go get them and line them up outside her kennel. Strangest thing she has ever done.
She did this with all the toys except the blanket.
When I opened the blanket and showed it to her, she took it from me and put it on the floor..and walked around it, smelling and licking it. She finally picked it up and drug it inside her kennel.
Being that Maya is a big dog, she can be rough with toys. They don’t usually last very long once she claims them. The toys from West Paw have held up really well. The only one we had to take away from Maya was the Boogey toy. She wasn’t content to just chew and play with him, she was shredding his hair out and having a blast doing it!
We decided Boogey was probably a better outside toy where Maya had room to toss him in the air and then drag him around. She absolutely loves playing with it! I imagine we will have to keep her stocked in them now that she has shown so much joy in playing with it.
As a mom, I do like that these toys are well made and made from safe products. It’s important to know what the toys that Maya chews on are made of and that they won’t hurt her should she ingest some of them while doing what dogs do with chew toys!
She is like a puppy running back and forth with one or another toy. Christmas came early for her!
I also appreciate a company that gives back to the community that supports them. West Paw does that through several programs but the one that touched me was their giving to other charities that are working just as hard in their own neighborhoods.
