My Thoughts
So how did I teach my kids when it was time for bed? I wish I could say I gave them a hug & kiss and sent them on their way but…that’s just not how it works. While each routine would be different based on the child, the steps were mostly the same. After dinner, they would have a bath or shower, a few quiet minutes to themselves (while other siblings got ready for bed) and then we’d read a book together. Sometimes it would be as easy as a picture book for the little ones and it could be a fairy tale or mystery for the older ones.
Regardless of the title though, they were already bathed, in their pj’s, in the bed and ready to have the lights turned off. I really like the idea of a book and blanket for bedtime like these from Story 2 Sleep. There is one for girls that includes purple and pink colors plus a mermaid design, and one for boys that is green, blue, and yellow with a pirate & beach theme. Each blanket also comes with a large book about the characters on their blanket too, plus you can scan the QR code on the back of the book to listen to the audio version. My younger kids would listen if they were ready for their story before I could get in there, and the older kids would listen as they were learning to read along.
I appreciate the snaps that come with the book and blanket for bedtime because the book would stay in place as we read it, then could be unsnapped and put away within the pocket of the blanket for next time. And, as a bonus, the blanket rolls up similar to a sleeping bag/backpack and worn on the back or shoulder!
The blanket is available for twin size beds which is perfect for my little ones or even if we are traveling since it won’t spill over onto someone else’s seat. A book and blanket for bedtime would make a great gift any time of the year, so be sure to visit Story 2 Sleep today to learn more about these fun blankets.
