If your playroom looks anything like ours, the children have enough toys. This year I am looking for something that they will of course enjoying playing with and want to use, but, I am leaning more towards games that they are able to learn too while playing. I know.. don’t tell them but I found a cute game that I feel meets both the fun and educational bar. Inspired by the award-winning board game, this fun, sturdy board book strengthens counting and color recognition, with plenty of flaps for little hands to lift and explore.
My Thoughts:
Both of these are super cute. The story of the sneaky squirrel had everyone laughing. The game and book are listed as for ages 3-5 years but our little one struggled with the “picker upper tool” in the game. We just modified it so that if she could name the color acorn she needed, she could pick it up with her fingers.
Oh, the acorns are one piece units. I was worried about them coming apart, but nope, they are secure. The pieces are still small enough to be a choking hazard, so caution should be used when the game is in use with little ones.
The game has acorns with different colored crowns. The object of the game is to match the colored crowns on the acorns to the spots on your tree trunk. Each person spins the spinner and collects the needed acorns. They can pick from the “ground” around the tree (inside the box) or they might be told to take an acorn from another player or..turn in their acorns and start over.
The board book is brightly colored and has acorns hid on each page for your little one to find.
They are tucked under flip up panels. It really is a cute book. Our little one could not wait to find the acorns! She just laughed and laughed.
I do like that both of the products are fun and educational for my children.
