About Utter Nonsense
Utter Nonsense is a card game where players combine silly accents with even sillier phrases to create sayings that are just plain ridiculous. The game contains 50 Accent Cards and 450 Phrase Cards which players combine and act out. Sometimes phrases pair well with the accent, but for the most part they don’t – and that’s Utter Nonsense. You don’t have to be good at accents and the combinations don’t need to make sense. In fact, players are encouraged to improvise and make the phrases their own. With each successive round, watch as even your most mild-mannered friends and family become improv masters.
My Thoughts:
First off, there are two versions of Utter Nonsense; the Family Edition is safe for ages 8+ but the Naughty Edition is definitely 18+! The concept of the game is the same in both cases, but the phrases and accents are definitely different.
I love that this is one of those games you can break out almost anywhere, whether you’re in the middle of a party, relaxing after dinner, or just want to liven a boring evening up! There isn’t a board or game pieces to keep up with, just a box of cards. The game is relatively simple in that you get an accent to use on one of the phrases in your hand. The predetermined Nonsense Judge picks the funniest accent & phrase combination and that person wins the round. After you win 5 rounds, you’ve won the game!
We’ve loved playing both games and our sides usually hurt when we get done playing. If the child is old enough to read, they can play. As for the adult version of the game, you’ll see sides of your friends and family that will surprise you. This would make a great gift for the family, for a housewarming party, or even as a hostess gift. You won’t be sorry.
