4 Reasons Non-Traditional Pets Can Be A Great Thing For Your Family

January 3, 2017 by Pam Maynard

Since the dawn of mankind, domesticated animals have been an integral aspect of humanity’s success. However, now a days there are many different animals that you can now consider a pet. Some of these are traditional, and some of them could be considered non-traditional as well. Below we’ll discuss various reasons non-tradition pets could be the perfect fit for your family.

4-reasons-nontraditional-pets-can-be-a-great-thing-for-your-family

Boundless Beauty: The Gift Of Nature

Nature is the earth’s greatest testament to beautiful potential. Pets represent millennia of evolution, providing owners with epic insights into life. As you watch your pet grow through the various stages of observational learning, you grow in tune with it as well. Whether you enjoy an iguana’s spikes and scales, the skin-crawling hairs of a tarantula, or the massive musculature of a mustang, your pet could bring joy and entertainment to your life.

Endless Entertainment: An Innate Outlet

Pets provide the best kind of entertainment. We are living in an age in which entire generations are glued to screens, immersing in a cycle of empty satisfaction, worshipping pixels. Natural living needs a revival, and it needs it right now. What better way is there to return to our roots than by interacting with our pets? They remind the youth of a life outside of electronics. Regular pets have also been morphed into tea-cup objectification, to an extent. This is why non-traditional pets can be so great. They diverge from our common conceptions and exemplify the incredible variety life has to offer. There is no better gift for your family.

Unique Usefulness: The Practical Factor

Aside from aesthetics and entertainment, non-traditional pets pull their weight. In the case of horses (and the many genetic diversions thereof) the ability to elegantly and effectively traverse lands far and wide led to widespread adoption. Horses can literally take you almost anywhere on land, creating a fusion of entertainment and utility. Although, owning a horse requires proper handling equipment, like the equipment found at Hillsboro Industries. These tools range from feeding to maintenance, and finally, riding. Any horse owner will need basic tools, like wheelbarrows and shovels. And when it comes to riding, owners will need a saddle, helmet, bridle, as well as stirrups. Although they’re high-maintenance, horses are a time-honored non-traditional pet.

Timeless Tradition: What Our Ancestors Have Imparted

Pets have helped humanity form societies just as much as humanity has helped them thrive. In times of security, they act as companions, alleviating our daily stresses with their freshening presence. In times of necessity, they are our guardians, our nose and ears. Shepard dogs can smell a wolf from miles away, and defend their sheep with their life in the balance. Bloodhounds search for the hunt, as well as for people who have gone astray. St. Bernards save humans at high altitude and cold conditions, in which many lose hope. Even pigeons have been messengers, faithfully traversing the skies with important communication.

Pets have a way of enhancing everything around us. They learn from us, exemplifying our behavior, just as we learn from their innate traits. While it may sound silly, the existence of animals and pets makes us who we are at a deeper level than genetics. Furthermore, they are a very tangible aspect of life which is refreshing given today’s tendencies to escape at all costs. While technology is great, and has many uses and benefits, it is not worth sacrificing our innate humanity for. Of course, life calls for a balancing act. However, in this balance, there is plenty of room for a non-traditional pet.
