Bulk Breakfast: How to Feed Your Entire Family Reunion

February 11, 2016 by Pam Maynard

If you’ve found yourself in charge of breakfast for your upcoming family reunion, you might be beginning to stress out. You’re not a chef, and it’s not like you have much restaurant experience, so how are you supposed to cook for such a large group?

Don’t sweat it! With a little bit of preparation before the big day, you’ll be able to pull off a family reunion breakfast with no trouble at all. Here are three basic breakfast ideas to get you started on your breakfast planning.

Egg Dishes

You can’t go wrong with eggs – they’re inexpensive, versatile, and always popular. If you’ve got a traditional group, go for a large batch of scrambled eggs with toast and sausage or bacon on the side. Or gather up some eggs and throw together an easy breakfast casserole to incorporate anything from ham and bacon to cheese and hash browns. My boys both love Ham and Cheese Quiche!

If your group is on the smaller side, or willing to eat in shifts, consider having an omelet station with a selection of meats, cheeses, and vegetables like bell peppers, onions, or tomatoes. Don’t forget the butter, of course!

Bread Breakfasts

It’s a fact: everyone loves bread. Stop by a local bakery and pick up several loaves of fresh-baked bread or order a few dozen Klosterman Baking Company rolls. Set up a bread or roll station with ham and cheese for the savory folks, and butter, jams, and honey for the sweet lovers. Plus, you can pick up some extra bread or rolls and use the leftovers for lunch!
Another option for a bread-filled breakfast is classic French toast. Just don’t forget a griddle (or two) if you’ve got a big group at the reunion.

For an added touch, try making something special and find an English scones recipe that pairs perfectly with jams and clotted cream. Including a variety of bread options ensures there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Nothing feels fresher than starting your day with some delicious fruit for breakfast! You can always add bananas, apples, or berries as a side to your main breakfast dish. Or, if you’re really feeling this option, go all out and make a huge fruit salad. Simply slice up whatever fruit you’ve got on hand – bananas, peaches, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, apples, and watermelon – and toss it together with some whipped topping. Voila! Scrumptious fruit salad.
If you want a little more than just fruit for breakfast, serve it with yogurt, granola, cottage cheese, or even in Chocolate Fruit tacos.

Whether you decide to go the classic eggs-and-bacon route, throw in something a little fancier, or combine a few different ideas into one delicious meal, planning and cooking a breakfast for your family reunion doesn’t have to be stressful! Use these ideas to guarantee everyone leaves the table satisfied.
