There comes a time in every pet owner’s life that will break your heart. Today is that day for me. Gracie, our Yellow Lab, is going over the Rainbow Bridge to be with her mother, Stuffin’, and all the other faithful companions that have gone on before her. We know we need to let go, but it’s so hard.
All these years, Gracie has given us unconditional love that has made our lives richer in every way. She was always happy to be with you, always greeted you with a wildly wagging tail and never let any crumbs go unattended. I used to lay on the bed with her on her back because she loved her tummy rubbed and she would talk and we would laugh.
We have had her 15 wonderful years- since the minute she was born. We called her the “Goer Girl” and she still lives up to that. She could play ball with the best of them. Marley (our Border Collie), would give her a reason to run faster and play harder. Now her back legs are too weak to hold her up, but she still keeps going. She never stops wagging her tail. She has never stopped knowing who we are.
Justin has never known life without Gracie- she is older than he is. He said good bye to her this morning, after he spent 20 minutes petting her and talking to her. It broke my heart to watch him. I know when he comes home, Gracie won’t be here and he will realize that he really did say good bye.
Please keep us in your prayers today. I know many of you have had pets that are waiting for Gracie on the other side.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
We will miss you Gracie! You will be in our hearts forever.
