Are You Embarrassed By Your Hair Loss? Here’s What To Do

September 6, 2021 by Pam Maynard

Many people love their hair but some choose to cut it all off. However, if you are reading this then you probably aren’t a part of the minority who decided to go with having no hair at all. You want to recover your wonderfully luscious hair after suffering what appeared to be hair shedding at first but turned out to be too excessive and, sadly, hair loss.

Unfortunately, you may have made common mistakes that lead to hair loss. If that is the case then you can salvage the situation and reverse it to experience renewed hair growth that is healthier than before.

The following are basic tips that can help you move forward and slowly see progress when looking for regrowth. However, if you have an underlying medical condition and the issue is not something that can be easily reversed you should go to a certified specialist to help you as there can be many underlying causes. You should try not to feel embarrassed and take the steps for necessary self-care and professional treatment to help you regardless of your situation.

Look out for toxic ingredients

The relationship between hair products and hair loss has been a point of controversy for many years. The debated issue might develop gradually over time and does not happen all at once. Some goods contain sodium lauryl sulfate, sulfates, sodium chloride, parabens, propylene glycol, or other substances in their ingredients. These degrade the hair follicle and destroy the hair, potentially resulting in hair loss.

According to studies done over the years, they may also irritate and may lead to fatal health concerns such as cancer if absorbed by the body for an extended period.

Reduce excessive styling

It is not limited to overheating but may also be caused by using too many chemical treatments or styling your hair too tightly. When you put chemicals on your hair regularly, you expose it to breakage and damage because the chemicals break down your hair follicle and the natural bonds, or oils, that your hair produces.

If you over-process your hair, deep conditioning treatments may not be able to heal the damage, and you may need to chop it off and try to regrow the length. It is vital not to over-dye your hair and to allow it to breathe. If you feel it is time to cut it and start over, consult with a hair professional.

Do deep conditioning treatments

Deep conditioning treatments can help you save your hair and restore the protein and moisture balance that has been lost. Home remedies have benefitted many women over time since they penetrate both the scalp and the hair follicles while saving you money in the long run. You may gradually promote hair regeneration by massaging your scalp for a couple of minutes each time you deep condition and then use heat to allow the treatment to thoroughly penetrate the hair shaft.

When you first see hair loss, you should do this once a week, then every two weeks until you see results, and finally once a month. This prevents you from over-moisturizing your hair and risking more damage.
