Fun Ways To Reward Your Kids For A Job Well Done

July 28, 2021 by Pam Maynard

Kids love rewards and will do just about anything to earn them. When you are trying to find the right reward for your child, it can be helpful to think outside of the box. In this blog post, we explore some fun ways that you can reward your kids when they have done a job well!

Fun Ways To Reward Your Kids For A Job Well Done

Give Them an Award

You can make an award certificate that is personalized for your child. It can be handmade or adopted from a print-out. You can find many award templates online that are perfect for children of all ages. Have fun with how you present their very special award to them! You can also frame it, or put it in a special place that they can see every day.

Increase Their Allowance

Associating a child’s allowance with their good deeds can be a motivating and empowering way for children to learn about the value of their money. This is a great option if you have not yet put an allowance system in place. If there is already a plan in action, decide how much you can reasonably increase the amount by, and consider adding additional incentives for a greater raise.

Take Them Out for Their Favorite Food

Rewarding your kids with their favorite food is a great way to excite them while encouraging their personal tastes. Going out to a restaurant or grocery store and letting them choose their item adds to the excitement and spectacle of the reward. You can also have them help prepare the meal and purchase it, adding to their sense of ownership.

Give Them An Extra Hour of Screen Time

Many children are glued to the screen, be it a phone, laptop, or television. Since this is inevitable in this day and age, it could be helpful to create positive reinforcement by offering screen time as a reward. This will help your children to associate productivity with recreational time and they will be more likely to do their work in order to get that much-awaited screen time.

Surprise Them With A Gift

A surprise is great for all ages. If you have a child who is not yet old enough for the surprise to be something tangible, an extra story time or trip outside can make them feel loved and appreciated. If they are older, try getting them a clothing item, order them something sweet from an online lolly shop, or get them a game or book.

Allow Them to Act Like The Boss For A Day (Or an Hour)

You don’t have to give your kids a physical item to give them a valuable gift. Sometimes, the most valuable thing you can do is to allow them to be in charge. Giving them the chance to be in charge of something for a day or even an hour is empowering and will help your kids develop self-esteem. You’ll likely learn something new as well when someone else is making the calls!

Summary

It’s always exciting to see your children reach their goals. Parents can feel a sense of accomplishment as well as a relief after they’ve worked hard to teach their children how to behave and learn. Rewarding your kids for a job well done can be an exciting moment for both parties involved, as it is a time of celebration.

If you’re not sure what your children would like best for a reward, just ask them! Congratulating your children is a great way to get to know them and better understand their needs. Once you tap into what motivates them, you can expect continued positive behavior in the future.
