Finding Time To Relax During A Crisis

July 4, 2020 by Pam Maynard

The concept of being able to relax during a crisis seems like an oxymoron. When the virus changed the world immeasurably just four short months ago, everyone was shocked at the speed at which they have had to adapt. While you may have been focused on buying a sporty little number, owning a big house and securing a promotion six months ago, now you are more concerned with spending quality time with your brood, keeping your family safe and having a happy home for your little darlings. This worldwide crisis has caused untold stress for millions, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to find moments to locate your inner calm. Take a look at how you can find time to relax during this stressful time.

Finding Time To Relax During A Crisis

Evenings

In the evenings, we tend to feel more stressed. This is because as night falls, things always tend to feel a little more uncertain. We may dread hitting the sack because our minds are whirring with intrusive thoughts and we may struggle with anxieties. To combat this, you need to hone a more calming evening routine. Think about running a bath and relaxing in a hot tub with scented candles around you and some chilled out tunes on to soothe the atmosphere.

Other people may find reading a book more relaxing or others may wish to experiment with rigs for dabbing to calm their moods. Try to move away from anything that could spark your anxieties. Ban the rolling news feed which can penetrate your psyche and enjoy a more relaxing evening full of calming sounds, scents and sights. Reading your favorite book in full body massage chairs can be the perfect way to relax!

Social Media

When we head onto social media, we can end up scrolling through our Facebook feeds for hours. Instead of being bombarded with fake news and unreliable sources that can ignite our fears, try and embark on a social media detox. This can instantly relax you as you no longer have exposure to harmful and damaging content. Ensure that you limit your screen time, especially before bed. Put the tablet away and the smartphone to one side.

Call a pal instead and reconnect with people in a more physical and tangible way. Hearing a friend’s voice rather than seeing their texts can give you more reassurance. As you hit the sack with a less anxious mind, you can fall asleep more easily and enjoy a more restful and unbroken night’s sleep, leaving you more alert and positive the next morning.

Try Something New

Finding Time To Relax During A Crisis

If you are finding yourself stuck at home a little more than you’d like during the crisis, consider doing something productive with your time. Learning a new skill can help focus your mind away from anxieties, and can keep you calm. If you’ve always fancied learning Polish, head online for a free tutorial. If you are keen on learning the piano, get onto YouTube and follow a scheme of lessons. If you want to hone your gastronomic prowess, get your recipe books out. Finding a hobby can focus your mind and relax you.

Forget about trying to soldier on with the burden of anxiety. Instead, follow this guide and learn how to relax during a crisis.
