Family Meal Time: 4 Healthy Options for Growing Teenagers

October 8, 2018 by Pam Maynard

Teenagers need top-quality nutrition that can assist them with the growth process. Young teens grow so quickly that it can be absolutely astonishing. Parents are often unable to recognize their youngsters from one day to the next. If you want to feed your growing teen like a nutritionist, these family meal suggestions may be optimal.

Family Meal Time: 4 Healthy Options for Growing Teenagers

Brown Rice

Brown rice makes an incredible foundation for all kinds of meals. If you want your dinner to be a hit, you should make brown rice a big part of it. Brown rice is incredibly filling, first of all. It’s also great for digestion. It can even reduce cholesterol levels. This whole grain is a total “must-have” for family dinner success.

Savory Oatmeal

There’s no rule that says that oatmeal is exclusively a breakfast food. There’s no rule that says that it has to be sweetened, either. Savory oatmeal can make an amazingly filling and delicious meal for growing teens. You can prepare oatmeal with feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, edamame, and more. There are so many ways to make oatmeal scrumptious and appetizing even for picky young folks.

Nutritious Sandwiches

There are so many ways to prepare sandwiches that are simultaneously nutritious and satisfying. Employ Kaiser buns to prepare your dinner sandwiches. You can fill these buns with feta cheese, apple slices, sliced tomatoes, hummus, almond butter, and more. If you rely on sandwich fillings that are tasty yet nutritionally balanced, your teenagers will thank you in a big way.

Salads

Salads are fresh and chock-full of beneficial vegetables. They’re also anything you want them to be. If you want to fill your teens up nicely, you can experiment with all kinds of appetizing and mouthwatering salads. Be sure to drizzle your salads with dressings that are healthy, too. Examples are Greek, green onion vinaigrette and sesame ginger. Prepare your salad with ample dark, leafy greens. Kale can pack a powerful nutritious punch, after all. Salads can make incredible lunches and dinners for teens. You can include lean meats such as grilled chicken into your salad as well. Hungry teens often crave a little additional protein.

Teenagers need to eat well in order to grow and thrive. They need to have a lot of energy, too. It takes a lot of energy to focus in school on a daily basis. It takes a lot of energy to engage in recreational activities after the fact as well.
