Are You an on-the-Go Mom? 4 Car Care Tips You Should Know

May 6, 2018 by Pam Maynard

Between French fries on the floor and sticky car seats, it can be hard to keep your car clean. By adopting these simple habits, you can have your car clean and ready to go all the time. All the other carpool moms will be jealous!

Are You an on-the-Go Mom? 4 Car Care Tips You Should Know

Keep a Trash Can

It’s amazing the difference a trash can in your car can make. If you have a designated space for old fast food wrappers and pieces of gum, your car will stay cleaner. Consider headrest trash cans for the kids and keep one in the front for yourself. Just make sure you empty the trash can regularly!

Make Necessary Repairs

If your car needs repairs, take care of them. A good Nissan repair service, or one geared towards your vehicle’s specific brand, will give you a car that’s running optimally. Ignoring things that need to be repaired could leave you stranded or worse. If something goes wrong with the car, fix it. It’s also a good idea to have your vehicle maintained regularly. Keep up with oil changes and tune-ups so your vehicle runs in the best way possible.

Pack in, Pack out

Think of what you do at a campground or state park. Anything you bring into the car, bring back out of the car. If you only need sports equipment one day per week, only have it in your car that day. Every other time, keep it in a designated spot in your house or garage. Your car isn’t a storage spot. Before you adopt this attitude, think of the necessities you’ll keep in your car all the time. Save those in the trunk or have a specific spot for them in the car. Try to limit this to things you know you’ll actually regularly use.

Weekly Cleaning Session

It’s hard, but designate one day every week to cleaning your car. If you keep up with it, it shouldn’t take you more than an hour. Clean out the junk you have in it, empty the trash cans and give it a good wipe down. Bonus points for vacuuming and washing it at that time. Weekends are a great time to clean your car because then you can get the kids involved too.

Driving the kids around in a clean car makes a world of difference. Once your car is clean, it’s easy to keep it clean so make sure you keep up with all the maintenance, repairs and cleaning you need to do!
