As a mom of three, back-to-school mornings can feel like a race against the clock! After using the Kwikset Aura Reach Matter and Bluetooth Enabled Smart Lock, I can honestly say our back-to-school routine feels easier. With three kids, I’m constantly on the go. I have different drop-offs, pickups, and places to be. Plus, I often have a toddler in my arms.
Most mornings, I’m juggling backpacks, bags, drinks, and who knows what else. The last thing I want to do is dig through my purse looking for my keys.
By far, my favorite feature is being able to lock and unlock our door right from my phone. The Kwikset app connects through Bluetooth. From there, I can manage the lock,. adjust settings, create access codes, and more.
Even better, the hands-free Auto-Unlock feature uses Bluetooth and geofence technology. It can unlock the door as I approach. When I come home with my toddler in my arms and my hands completely full, I really appreciate this feature!
I also LOVE that the Aura Reach works with Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, and Google Home. We use Alexa in our house, so the voice control feature quickly became another favorite. If I hear a knock and know who is at the door, I can simply say, “Alexa, unlock the door.” I especially love this when I’m cooking or carrying my toddler. I don’t have to stop everything just to unlock the door.
Additionally, the Aura Reach is Matter-enabled with Thread. This allows it to work with major smart home platforms. I love having the option to create helpful automations and connect it with other smart devices in our home. There’s also a Signal Range Boost feature. When enabled on a Matter network, it can provide twice the signal strength for better reliability.
Another feature that gives me extra peace of mind is Auto-Lock. I can set the door to automatically lock after 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes. There’s also one-touch locking when we leave.
School mornings can get crazy. Sometimes we’re rushing just to get everyone out the door on time. Knowing the door can lock itself gives me one less thing to think about once we drive away.
The backlit touchpad is another feature I really like. The bright LED backlighting makes the buttons easy to see. It also has tactile feedback and a fingerprint-resistant matte coating. Plus, Proximity Wakeup lights the keypad as you reach toward it. This makes entering your code even quicker.
Kwikset also makes it easy to give family and trusted guests access. You can create up to 250 temporary, scheduled, or permanent access codes. I love that I can give someone their own code instead of handing out another house key.
Security is also very important to me. The Kwikset app can alert you about invalid code attempts when you’re within Bluetooth range. It also records those attempts in the app.
The lock also features SmartKey Security, which helps protect against lock picking and bumping. I can even re-key the lock myself if I ever need to. Plus, Kwikset includes two physical keys. I like knowing we still have a traditional backup option.
Another thing I appreciate is that there’s no hardwiring required. The lock comes with four Duracell AA batteries. The Kwikset app also lets you know when the batteries are getting low. That way, I know when it’s time to replace them.
Finally, installation is pretty straightforward. The interactive in-app installation guide walks you through each step. The visuals are easy to follow, and you only need a screwdriver for the DIY installation.
For our family, the Kwikset Aura Reach Smart Lock has become more than another smart home gadget. It solves a small problem that used to add unnecessary stress to my day. Between school drop-offs, pickups, groceries, backpacks, and carrying a toddler, I already have enough to juggle.
Now, I can use my phone, the keypad, Auto-Unlock, a physical key, or simply ask Alexa for help. Kwikset has made getting in and out of our home one less thing this busy mom has to worry about during the school year.
