  • Paper Plate – Dollar Store
  • Craft Foam – Silver Glitter
  • Wooden Dowel – Dollar Store
  • Tinsel Pom Pom, Blue – Dollar Store
  • Craft Paint – Blue, Red
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks 
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors 
  • Ruler
  • Pencil 
  • Pattern

Patriotic Pinwheel Craft

Instructions:

  1. Gather all supplies. Basecoat the inside of two paper plates with blue acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Patriotic Pinwheel Craft
  2. Paint stripes around the edge of the outside of the paper plate with red acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Patriotic Pinwheel Craft
  3. Fold the blue paper plate in half, then fold it in half in the opposite direction. Crease the folds sharply, then unfold. Patriotic Pinwheel Craft
  4. Mark the center of the paper plate with a pencil. Measure a half inch from the center on each of the four fold lines, mark with a pencil. Patriotic Pinwheel Craft
  5. Using scissors, cut each of the four fold lines up to the half-inch mark created in step four. Patriotic Pinwheel Craft
  6. Starting at the top right, bring the corner to the center and secure with a glue gun and glue sticks. TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry. Patriotic Pinwheel Craft
  7. Continue to create the pinwheel by gluing the bottom right corner to the center of the pinwheel. Patriotic Pinwheel Craft
  8. Attach the bottom left and top left sections of the pinwheel to the center of the paper plate with a glue gun and glue sticks. Patriotic Pinwheel Craft
  9. Download, print, and cut out the star pattern. Trace the star pattern twice onto the back of the silver glitter craft foam with a pencil. Patriotic Pinwheel Craft
