💚 Craft Stick Grinch Santa – A Fun and Easy Dollar Store Christmas Craft for Kids

If your family loves The Grinch as much as mine does, you’re going to adore this fun little holiday craft! Using simple and inexpensive supplies from the Dollar Store, you can create this Craft Stick Grinch Santa in just about 30 minutes. It’s the perfect mix of merry and mischievous — and a great way to spend a cozy afternoon crafting with the kiddos.

There’s something extra special about handmade Christmas decorations, especially when the kids get to help. This bright and colorful Grinch Santa is full of personality, with that classic green face and a fluffy red Santa hat that makes everyone smile. Whether you hang it on the tree, use it as a gift tag, or display it on the fridge, it’s sure to bring a little extra cheer to your home this season.

DIY Grinch Bath Bombs

The kids will squeal in excitement over the chance to create these fun and easy Grinch-Inspired crafts! They are the perfect activity for solving the afternoon boredom blues or for a fun class activity. Fun, easy, bright, and colorful – just what the kiddos love!

These fun DIY Grinch Ornaments are super cute. They are also easy to make, making them perfect for the kids. They will enjoy the opportunity of making fun ornaments for the tree.

Materials:

  • Craft Sticks, Jumbo – Dollar Tree
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks 
  • Acrylic Craft Paint – Bright Green, White, Yellow
  • Cardstock – Red, White
  • Marker, Black
  • White Chalk Pencil or Carbon Graphite Paper (for tracing)
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • PATTERN

Grinch Santa

Instructions:

  1. Gather all supplies. To create the Grinch, line up seven jumbo craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to width and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks. TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.   2. Basecoat with bright green acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. TIP: Use washable markers, crayon, or even colored pencil to color the jumbo craft sticks. Grinch Santa
  3. Download and print the Grinch pattern sheet. Roughly cut out the Grinch face pattern, flip it over and apply white chalk or pencil to the back. Place the face pattern onto the bright green craft stick base and trace over all lines with a pencil. This will transfer the face pattern on the Grinch’s head. Grinch Santa
  4. Fill in the Grinch’s eyes with white acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. Grinch Santa
  5. Using a permanent black marker, ink in all the outlines of the Grinch’s face. Grinch Santa
  6. Fill in the pupils in the Grinch’s eyes with yellow acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. Grinch Santa
  7. Trace the Santa hat onto red cardstock, and the Santa hat trim onto white cardstock with a pencil. Grinch Santa
  8. Cut out all patterns with scissors, making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project. Grinch Santa
  9. Ink in the cartoon style outlines on the Santa hat and the Santa hat trim with a permanent black marker. Grinch Santa
  10. To finish, attach the hat trim to the Santa hat with a glue gun and glue sticks, then glue the hat onto the top of the Grinch’s head. Grinch Santa
  11. Enjoy your creation! Grinch Santa

Once your Craft Stick Grinch Santa is complete, the fun doesn’t have to stop there!  These adorable little Grinches make perfect ornaments for the Christmas tree — just add a loop of ribbon or twine to the back. You can also turn them into gift tags by writing names on the back and tying them to presents for a handmade touch. If you’re decorating for a classroom party or family get-together, they look super cute as table decorations or place cards too! You could even glue a magnet to the back and use it as a holiday fridge decoration — a cheerful reminder that Christmas cheer (and maybe a little mischief!) is in the air. 🎄
