It’s that time of year again when we embrace the outdoors a bit more, yet it also marks the arrival of pesky insects on the hunt for their next targets. As the temperature rises, so does the prevalence of these bothersome bugs eager to leave their mark. Despite our efforts to fend them off with insect sprays and candles, a few always seem to slip through the cracks. My family and I are particularly sensitive to their bites, which, once inflicted, can sting persistently and cause significant swelling. After these bites occur, we become increasingly itchy and that in itself is enough to drive us crazy. With the advanced technology these days, I discovered heat it™ and it’s changed the way I effectively treat insect bites with my smartphone.
heat it™ is a tiny but mighty bug-bite relief device that plugs directly into smartphones to treat itchiness and pain with heat. Simply plug heat it™ into the charging port and the corresponding app opens. If necessary, you can now customize the treatment. After a short warm-up, the contact surface of the heat it™ is placed on the insect bite. Depending on the setting in the app, the treatment takes 4, 7 or 9 seconds and reaches a temperature of between 117 and 126 °F. The app tells you once the treatment is successfully completed. About heat it™
The brilliant idea originally came about in 2017 during a student competition. Fed up with mosquito bites, we tried out the treatment using concentrated heat and were immediately convinced by the principle, but not by the available products. Too clunky, never with us and unadaptable! So we decided to take the development into our own hands.

Setting it up was a breeze; simply plug it into your phone, and the app prompts you to get started. I’m particularly impressed by the array of settings available, catering to both adults and children, varying sensitivity levels, and customizable intensity. heat it™ is truly one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time, and I know that this will be my family’s way of treating insect bites from now on.
