Balancing Green Time With Screen Time

December 28, 2021 by Pam Maynard

Technology has changed the way most people communicate. Social media sites let us share personal updates and jokes with friends, family, and strangers. In the past, answering the phone was necessary, but now, many people prefer text messages to phone calls.

Technology’s also changed how people spend their leisure time. Some enjoy high-tech hobbies, such as playing video games, while others use computers all day at work and seek opportunities to take a break from technology and spend more time in nature. Let’s look at some ways you can balance green time with screen time.

Invest in superior equipment to enhance your screen time.

.Balancing Green Time With Screen Time

Sitting at a computer playing video games may sound like a safe recreational option, but spending a lot of time using a computer causes eyestrain, back pain, neck pain, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Repositioning your monitor, taking screen breaks, and using a humidifier in your gaming room can help you reduce eyestrain.

Using a custom gaming chair with lumbar and neck supports can prevent back and neck pain, and investing in wrist rests can help you prevent carpal tunnel syndrome.

Investing in quality gaming equipment may reduce your screen time because superior gaming equipment can help you improve your performance, enabling you to reach goals in less time. The best gaming mouse pad for you may depend on the type of gameplay you enjoy.

You can increase your precision with a gaming pad with more friction, and many gamers prefer smooth mouse pads made from cloth, metal, or plastic. The best gaming mouse pads available today include the Razer Sphex V2, Corsair MM600 Dual-Sided, Logitech G240, Steelseries Qck Heavy XXL, and Corsair MM800 Polaris RGB mouse pads.

Although RGB lights won’t improve your gaming skills, they will enhance your aesthetic. You can choose mouse pads in various shapes and sizes, enabling you to find a mouse pad that fits your gaming setup. You can also opt for advanced mouse pads with USB ports and wireless charging.

Plan outdoor activities you enjoy.

Suppose you work as a professional streamer, an esports competitor, a computer programmer, or an administrative assistant. You may spend most of your time behind a screen. Consequently, the thought of using technology for downtime may not sound appealing. You can get the screen break you need by prioritizing green time outdoors.

Sitting outside and relaxing by an open fire is a great way to enjoy your green time. Enhance your backyard setup by adding a fire pit. You can choose from multiple fire pits in Denver, including round, square, and rectangular fire pits. You can consider metal or concrete fire pits using propane or natural gas.

Installing a fountain is another way to promote green time. You may enjoy sitting by an outdoor fountain, or you could add a small fountain inside your home. The sound of running water can reduce your stress because it’s soothing.

Consider installing an outdoor kitchen if you’re looking for ways to motivate yourself to spend more time outdoors. Outdoor kitchens can include pizza ovens, grills, and food prep space, enabling you to cook meals outdoors.

Monitor how much time you spend looking at electronic devices.

Balancing Green Time With Screen Time

Many people have their smartphones accessible at all times. You may find yourself using your phone to play games, read books, or interact on social media during your entire commute and then spend most of your day working at a computer screen.

You can help balance your green time and screen time by tracking the amount of personal time spent using devices and committing an equal amount of time to green time. You could offset your screen time by listening to music or an audiobook while you’re commuting.

You can also engage in other hobbies, such as painting, or spend time exercising to reduce your screen time.

You may use electronic devices during your work and personal time. Balancing your green time and screen time can involve investing in superior resources, monitoring your time, and pursuing hobbies that don’t involve computers or smartphones.
