One of the most important lessons I teach my kids is how to send Thank You cards. It’s impossible to overstate the importance of this simple task, and it can go a long way in teaching kids about gratitude and manners. It helps them learn social skills, as well as provides a tangible reminder that they have done something nice for someone else. A little bit of time on your part will yield lifelong benefits for your children!
Here are some tips on how to teach your children the importance of sending Thank You Cards!
1) Teach them the words: The first step in teaching your child about writing a thank-you card is learning what they need to say. Start by reviewing the sentence “Thank you for…” with them and encourage them to add their own words or phrases throughout this sentence when thanking people.
2) Model good manners: Make sure they reflect good manners when thanking someone.
3) Remind them to use their best handwriting so the recipient will be able to read their nice card.
