How to Make Christmas Lights Cookies

Add a little festive fun to your Christmas Sugar cookies this year! Decorate them like Christmas lights! It’s so easy and fun. Get the kiddos to help! These Christmas Lights Cookies are perfect for Cookie exchanges and Christmas parties!  They are so simple to decorate, even my son can make them. 

Christmas Lights Cookies

Christmas cookies are a long-standing tradition and it’s no wonder why! Not only are they yummy to eat but they are super fun and festive.

These fun Christmas Tree Cut Out Cookies use the simplest of ingredients and are super easy to make.

Christmas Lights Cookies Ingredients:

Christmas Lights Cookies

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • baking powder 1/2 tsp
  • Salt
  • Butter 1/4 cup
  • Sugar 1/4 cup
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Vanilla 1/2 tsp
  • Almond extract ¼ tsp

For icing:

  • Powdered sugar 1 cup
  • Fresh lemon juice 2 tsp
  • Egg white 2 tbsp

For decoration:

  • Chocolate 25 g (1 ounce)
  • mini M&Ms

Christmas Lights Cookies Directions:

Put flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl. Mix.

Add butter and sugar in another bowl. Mix.

Christmas Lights Cookies

Add egg yolk, vanilla and almond extract. Blend.

Christmas Lights Cookies

Pour in the sifted flour in parts.

Christmas Lights Cookies

Knead the dough. Collect it into a ball.

Roll out the dough into a layer ½ inch thick.

Cut out 12 circles with a cookie cutter.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Bake the cookies in the oven for 10-12 minutes. Cool.

For icing mix lemon juice, egg white, add powdered sugar. Mix until smooth.

Decorate your cookies!  Spread icing on the cookies and let them dry.

Instructions

2. Add  butter and sugar in another bowl. Mix.

3. Add egg yolk, vanilla and almond extract. Blend.

4. Pour in the sifted flour in parts. Knead the dough. Collect it into a ball.

5. Roll out the dough into a layer ½ inch thick.

6. Cut out 12 circles.

 7.  Preheat the oven to (200 degrees Celsius) 400 degrees . Bake the cookies in the oven for 10-12 minutes. Cool.

8.For icing mix lemon juice, egg white, add powdered sugar.

9 Decorate your cookies with the icing, chocolate stripes and M&Ms for the lights!
