How to Take Care of Your Hair During Dry Season

March 22, 2021 by Pam Maynard

Now that spring is here, you should be taking better care of your hair. In fact, the spring and summer months are when your hair can feel the driest since you’ll be spending more time outside. However, there are numerous ways to keep your hair looking as bouncy as ever. Here are some of them:

How to Take Care of Your Hair During Dry Season

A Quick Visit to the Salon

If you want to experience radiant hair, the first thing you have to do is visit your go-to salon to give your hair a trim and remove all the split ends. You may also want to choose a treatment that will help protect your hair from excessive sun exposure.

Do this at least once every month or twice a month if your hair is severely damaged. Don’t hesitate to consult your hairstylist about what products will work best for your hair and its condition.

Invest in Your Hair Care

Don’t just buy any shampoo and conditioner that you see on the shelf. Check to see if it’s best suited for your hair type. Choosing a shampoo with tons of moisturizer when your hair is already oily can only do more harm than good. If you have dandruff, you can also buy an anti-dandruff shampoo.

Remember, sun exposure can cause your scalp to become dry and itchy and when you have existing dandruff, all the scratching can only worsen it. If you, on the other hand, have dry hair to begin with, invest in a shampoo or conditioner that can help moisturize your locks.

Use Leave-On Conditioner

If you have plans to hit the beach or the swimming pool, make sure that your hair will have an added layer of protection. The chlorine in the swimming pool can drain out all the moisture from your hair so make sure that they are protected. If you can also find a shampoo that comes with an SPF protection, the better. Go for something that has a sun protection of at least 10 to 15.

Stay Fashionable With a Hat

Before you go out, check the weather and see if you would need to wear a hat. Wearing a hat can help reduce the effects of the UV rays on your hair. Make sure that you dry your hair before wearing one.

Use a Silk Pillowcase

Silk is a poor conductor and is not easy to generate static electricity which can help maintain natural shine hair and can reduce the chances of your hair getting damaged. Having a silk pillowcase can improve the condition of your hair and skin by reducing the friction on the hair cuticles and wrinkles on the face while you sleep.

Take Time to Air Dry Your Hair

How to Take Care of Your Hair During Dry Season

One of the basic things that you should do to keep your hair healthy during the dry season is to let it air dry. Don’t rely too much on using blow dryers or flat irons. After showering, allow your hair to dry naturally. You can sit in front of an electric fan and finger comb your hair as it dries.

Spring and summer seasons are already causing your hair follicles and strands to struggle, and subjecting them to more heat will only cause them to become dry and brittle. If you can’t help using these tools, don’t forget to use hair protection to make sure that your hair won’t dry too much.

Remember these tips to ensure that you will have fabulous hair for every season. Don’t be among those who struggle from dealing with dry hair come spring and summer. Taking care of your hair won’t take up much of your time. Spend at least half an hour to an hour, and you’ll surely have a crowning glory.
