My Thoughts
Now that our area of the country is warming up, my crew are hot to get outside on their skateboards and bikes. And as parents, we require they were a helmet at least. That rule is firm, some of the other protective gear depends on the child and their age/skill set. Which of course starts battles as the younger ones all feel they are as skilled as older siblings.
The Wipeout™ gear come highly recommended by other parents in our subdivision. They are known for being well made and able to hold up to a lot of use. And more importantly is that they are offered at a great price point. As fast as children grow, being able to upgrade and update their equipment at a moderate price is certainly important to most of us. I also appreciate it when a brand goes the extra mile to help customers. When looking at the sizing choices, I was stumped. A couple of my crew are either smaller or larger than the size vs age options when ordering. A quick check of the website and I discovered the fit chart page. Not only to they explain how and where to measure for the best fit, they include a way to contact them if needed.
Learning or Improving New Skills
So this Summer while our boys are honing their skills and this parent is learning how to not gasp out loud as they an Acid Drop which means skating off the end of an object without touching the board with your hands! Other new phrases I have picked up the meaning of are Slam meaning a hard fall, a Slide meaning any trick in which any part of the deck is sliding atop an obstacle, and one of my favorite is the Airwalk which is an aerial trick in which the rider grabs the nose of their board, kicks their feet out while in the air, and then quickly puts their feet back on the board right before landing.
Did I say I was trying to learn to control my gasps and facial expressions while at the skate park? It is a work in progress to say the least. And on the younger crew team, is our Ms Allie who is mastering roller skating and bike tricks. Lord help me with my facial expressions this Summer.
