How to make this cute Cork Horse Christmas Ornament:
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. With adult supervision, carefully trim three of the five wine corks at an angle with a craft knife on a self-healing mat.
Cut one of the scrap pieces of wine cork into four pie-shaped quarters with a craft knife on a self-healing mat.
Dry fit all pieces together on your work surface and trim any additional cork as necessary.
STEP TWO
To assemble the horse, attach a full cork body to a cut cork neck with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Glue a full cork head to the cork neck, and then attach the cut cork legs to the front and back of the full cork body.
Adhere two of the pie shaped cork ears to the right and left sides of the cork horse head.
STEP THREE
Wrap a red chenille stem around a pencil to create a spiral. Remove and cut in half with scissors.
Glue half of the spiral red chenille stem to the back of the head for the horse’s mane. Then adhere the second half to the back of the body for the horse’s tail with a glue gun and glue sticks.
STEP FOUR
Wrap a gold tinsel chenille stem around the muzzle of the horse, twist to secure, and trim excess with scissors. Bend remaining gold tinsel chenille stem around the head of the horse and trim any excess with scissors. Attach both pieces to horse with a glue gun and glue sticks to create the bridle.
Carefully glue two small white pom poms to the center of the horse’s ears and two small wiggle eyes on either side of the horse’s face.
STEP FIVE
Measure and cut a three to four inch length of plaid ribbon, and cut a triangular notch from each end with scissors.
Glue ribbon over the body of the horse as a decorative saddle.
STEP SIX
To finish, measure and cut a 12” length of gold cord, secure ends with a knot to create a loop. Apply a small dot of glue on the knot and attach to the inside of the horse’s mane for the hanger.
Change up the ribbon and mane colors to green, silver, or gold for a unique twist. A great craft project for adults and teens to create on their own or with younger kids.
