How many times have you found yourself applying makeup in the morning strictly to cover those dark circles under your eyes? Even with the best concealers and correctors out there, dark circles can still peek through and leave you looking tired. While it would be great if you could simply get more rest, and wake up looking and feeling refreshed, for many people, that’s just not reality. And for others, dark circles aren’t even sleep-related and instead can be caused by allergies, genetics, and other factors.
So, what can you do to get rid of those dark circles under your eyes? We’ve gone ahead and put together a number of hacks you can use. Keep in mind it may end up that a combination of these hacks is what brings about the best results.
Start Using a Brightening Eye Cream
The first thing you can do to really brighten up those dark circles is to find an eye cream that specifically targets darkness. Vitamin K is well known in the beauty industry for being able to boost circulation, which in fact lightens the dark circles. Take for example this brightening eye cream from Herbal Dynamics Beauty. Not only does it feature vitamin K, but it also includes green tea and Ginkgo Biloba, which are known to fight the signs of aging, reduce puffiness, and act as an anti-inflammatory.
The goal of any good quality eye cream shouldn’t just be to address the immediate problem but provide you with long-term and lasting results.
As for how often to use an eye cream, it is always recommended that you apply it in the morning and the evening.
Use a Cold Compress
If your eyes are particularly puffy as well as the dark under-eye circles, another hack is to use a cold compress. Applying cold will work to reduce the puffiness and your blood vessels that are dilated under your eyes. If you don’t have a cold compress handy, you can always wrap a couple of ice cubes in a face cloth.
Just be sure that you don’t leave the cold compress on for too long. About 10 minutes should do the trick.
Change Up How You Sleep
Another hack is to change your sleep position in order to improve the circulation under your eyes. Try sleeping with your head elevated, as this can stop the blood from pooling in the under-eye area. You can experiment with how elevated you need to be – usually an extra pillow or two is all you’ll need. It may also take a few nights to start seeing the results you’re after, so this one you’ll need to be a little patient with.
Try Taking Allergy Medicine
For many people, the dark circles under their eyes are caused by allergies. Seasonal allergies can be particularly cumbersome and really cause those circles to deepen up. A good hack can be to take allergy medicine at night. Again, this is one of those hacks that can take a bit of time to really grab hold (at least a few days), so try taking allergy medicine nightly for a week before you decide if it works or not.
If you do in fact suffer from seasonal allergies, you can also get a jump on those dark circles and start taking your medicine right before the season is about to change. You may even be able to stop the circles from happening at all.
On Your Way to Bright Under Eyes
By using these tips, you’ll be well on your way to banishing dark circles under the eyes and looking completely refreshed.
