OK, so January is over, and that means most people have given up on the News Year resolutions already. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t still improve your health during 2020. In fact, it is actually the perfect time to reassess your well-being and take some sensible and sustainable steps to promote it. Read on for some suggestions.
Do less & get more rest
One way in which you can sensibly and sustainably be healthier in 2020 is instead of trying to do more all of the time, do less instead. Yes, that’s right, good quality rest and recuperation can do you a power of good. In fact, it can make everything else you do a great deal easier as well.
With that in mind, be sure to schedule some rest and time where you aren’t actively doing things. You can even get into boosting your sleep hygiene as well. Something that you can start off by going to be at least 30 minutes earlier and allowing yourself to wind down naturally before sleep.
Deal with specific health issues
Yes, eating well and moving more can help you be and feel healthier. However, what you also need to remember is that they are not magic bullets for more severe or sustained health problems.
In fact, sometimes we can be so focused on what we can do to get healthier that we forget we also need help from other areas as well. Happily, there is help out there. Whether that is speaking to your doctor, or heading to a physical therapist to help repair an injury. You may even wish to look into drug rehab if you have an addiction problem. The latter being something that will have a more positive effect on your life than any of the other things you can do to promote your health combined.
Meditate
Most people can sit down in a comfortable position for 5-10 minutes, and that means that most people can also meditate. An activity that has been shown to have all sorts of incredible benefits for health, both mental and physical.
Eat vegetables with every meal
You probably already know that vegetables are good for us. You probably have already seen that there is a massive trend towards veganism right now as well. However, do remember that you don’t need to entirely and drastically change your diet to get at least some of the benefits of an increase in vegetable intake.
In fact, a much more sustainable way of doing things is to work more veg into your diet one meal at a time. That is adding some spinach or red papers with your eggs for breakfast. Then once that has become a habit, move on to your lunch. Yes, it’s a small change, but the added fiber and nutrients can make a massive difference to your health over time.
