Seven Parenting Strategies You Can Use Everyday!

December 29, 2018 by Pam Maynard

Every parent needs new information every now and then. This article will address some of the hard situations that arise when parenting children. You may find some of the tips helpful the next time you have a hard situation to handle.

Parenting Strategies you can use Everyday!

Don’t spend a fortune on the Nursery:

You do not necessarily need to spend a fortune on a nursery for your little one. Cribs, blankets, changing tables, and items of this matter, can be purchased for a whole lot cheaper at department stores, like Walmart, while also providing high quality. Also, ask if any of your family or friends have spare baby stuff that they don’t use anymore.

Make some space on your kitchen counter, set your child on a towel and run water over his hair and scalp. This method eases concerns of children who do not like to have their head dunked into the water.

Toddler Transitions:

Preschoolers often have a difficult time with transitions. Changing activities suddenly can often result in a crying spell and stress out the child.

Make sure never to get a toddler or child soda of any kind. Try giving them cold or warm milk, sugarless juice, and water so that they can get nutrients and vitamins.

Healthy Environment:

You should never smoke indoors when you have children. It is actually a good idea to quit smoking altogether, especially if you have children. Secondhand smoke is worse than smoking. When children are exposed to second-hand smoke they may develop respiratory problems, like asthma or bronchitis.

Give them Chores:

Tap into your child’s natural desire for independence and grow their confidence by allowing them to perform simple tasks around the house. For example, if you are washing dishes, allow your child to dry them. When you fold laundry, have your child sort through the socks. Tasks like these help them feel independent and it helps you.

Take advantage of Family Line when traveling:

Use the family line when going through airport security with children. Many airports now have them in place. Then, you won’t have to worry about rushing or getting annoyed by impatient travelers in line behind you. Everything has to be scanned, including shoes and the kids’ car seats.

Use Positive Reinforcement:

When dealing with a child’s difficult behavior, always use positive reinforcement. If a child is dealing with some emotional baggage they might have difficulty expressing themselves properly. The most effective way to help such children is to demonstrate proper behavior and praise them for repeating it.

Playtime and routine is important:

Kids are crazy for playing. Playtime is essential. A good parent knows that they should do their best to be more active in their child’s playtime.

The three biggest routines in your child’s day should be meal times, homework completion and bed time. If you tell your child you are going to do something, then you should follow through with it. Getting your child into a routine helps your child adjust and behave well.

Parents can use help in understanding their children. Everyone is occasionally faced with parenting situations that seem to have no answer. In this article you will find some parenting advice to guide you through those situations. Utilize the information that is pertinent to your situation.
