MINIONS- those cute little yellow guys- here are a few facts you probably didn’t know about them:
1. THERE’S REALLY ONLY ONE MINION
Believe it or not, Despicable Me and Minions co-director Pierre Coffin voices all of the minions himself. For the new film, Coffin voiced 899 of the little yellow henchmen.
2. TECHNICALLY, THEY’RE MULTILINGUAL
The minions’ cute jumbled language “Minionese” is actually a mix of Spanish, English, French and Italian with additional elements of Russian and Korean. And they seem to understand English pretty well, too. They’re worldly little guys.
3. PURPLE EQUALS BAD, YELLOW EQUALS GOOD
Evil Minions are purple because purple and yellow are opposite to each other on the color spectrum. Yep, good and evil minions are literally exact opposites.
Know that you know a little more about these cute guys, be sure to tell your kids when they are helping you make these cute cupcakes!
Ingredients:
- 12 vanilla cupcakes
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 2 cups icing sugar
- 3-4 tbsp milk
- Blue gel food coloring
- 12 Oreo cookies
- 1 ½ cups yellow candy melts
- 2 tsp coconut oil
- 3 oz. white fondant
- Black decorating icing
Yields: One dozen decorated cupcakes
Directions:
1- If baking cupcakes from scratch, allow to cool completely before decorating.
2- Using an electric mixer, start beating butter, icing sugar and milk on medium speed. Add blue gel food coloring and gradually increase speed to high. The buttercream is ready once the ingredients are smooth and forms stiff peaks.
3- Using a frosting bag, frost each cupcake.
4- Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside. Roll your fondant so that it’s about ¼ of an inch thick. Using the bottom end of an icing tip, cut 15 circles and place gently on your lined baking sheet. Dot pupils in the center with your black decorating icing.
5- Melt yellow candy and coconut oil in the microwave in 30-second intervals.
6- With a fork, submerge each Oreo cookie in the melted candy and carefully place on lined baking sheet. Place eyes (either one or two) on each covered cookie and allow to set.
7- With your black decorating icing, draw goggles around the Minions’ eyes and hair.
8- Place one decorated cookie on top of each cupcake and enjoy!
