About 25 percent of grill masters report that they grill at least every two weeks from December to February. While these months tend to be the coldest of the year, there are many delicious foods that you can grill in the winter. These foods make a wonderful addition to your dinner table even if it is cold enough that you have to eat them inside. Here are four unique winter grilling ideas.
Tuna Steaks
Since tuna steaks take only about eight minutes to cook on a grill powered by propane, like that from Mason Propane, you will be back inside before you really get cold. They are scrumptious when you brush them with a mixture of two tablespoons olive oil, the juice of one lemon and one small diced shallot. You will have no trouble cooking these, especially if you’ve gotten remote propane tank monitoring in Mason or wherever you’re located. Cook the steaks for four minutes, then flip them over to cook for another four.
Leg of Lamb
Winter is the perfect time to prepare a leg of lamb on the grill. Start the process by coating a three-pound butterflied leg of lamb with 3/4 cup pesto, 1/2 cup mayonnaise and one minced garlic clove. Start by cooking the leg over direct medium heat for about 12 minutes, and flip it over and cook it on the other side for 12 minutes. Then, move the leg to indirect heat and continue cooking until the desired doneness. This will take about 25 minutes for rare.
Peach Cobbler
Eating warm peach cobbler is the perfect way to take the chill off a winter day. It is so easy to prepare on the grill. Simply take two cans of peaches and pour them into a 9 by 13-inch pan. Add, a vanilla cake mix to the peaches along with one stick of butter cut into slices. Cover the pan with aluminum foil, and bake it for 30 minutes. Now, remove the cover and bake about 10 more minutes until golden brown.
Turkey
Prepare your holiday bird on the grill. Start by preparing your grill for indirect heat. Then, coat the 12-pound turkey with one tablespoon oil and one tablespoon Italian dressing seasoning mix. Grill the bird for about three hours until it reaches an internal temperature of 185 degrees. Let it stand for 15 minutes before carving.
