Music has been around since the beginning of time. It is usually used to bring people together. You could say that music makes the world smaller because it doesn’t really matter if we even understand the words, the beat touches us and unites us for a brief moment in time.
Lisa Loeb – Lullaby Girl
Pull up the covers and relax with Lisa Loeb and a world-class quartet led by keyboardist Larry Goldings. An Amazon Originals release, Lullaby Girl offers fresh and dreamy arrangements of classic songs from a variety of genres. Lisa’s distinctive voice adds intimacy and expression to these familiar melodies. Hushed and meditative, the recording was co-produced with Lisa’s longtime collaborator Rich Jacques and Goldings, who is known for his work with James Taylor, John Mayer, as well as many top jazz artists. World-renowned songwriter and guitarist Adam Levy (who tours and records with Norah Jones and Tracy Chapman) also performs. The album was originally planned as a traditional lullaby record for children. As they began the recording process, Lisa, Larry and Rich found a uniquely different path, and it became clear that this would be a record for everyone. “I’m so excited for everyone to hear this collection of classics recorded with an amazing group of musicians. I feel like we’ve come up with a new take on classics that people will really enjoy. We live in a time where everything happens so quickly, but with this album, you’ll be able to slow it all down and relax!” shares Lisa.
Indeed, Lullaby Girl is an album for insomniacs. Lisa’s performance reminds us of why songs like “Be My Baby,” “All the Pretty Little Horses,” “Dream a Little Dream,” “What the World Needs Now Is Love” and “Oooh Child” remain classics. Lisa’s original songs “Close Your Eyes” and “Lullaby Girl” flows right in with the pristine arrangements of tunes like Brian Wilson’s “In My Room” and Annie’s“Tomorrow.” Lullaby Girl is the perfect companion to Lisa’s other award-winning family music releases Nursery Rhyme Parade! and Feel What U Feel.

Brady Rymer – Revvin’ Up the Reindeer
Following eight albums and three Grammy nominations in the Children’s genre, Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could introduce Revvin’ Up the Reindeer, a holiday album for the whole family. 13 original tunes celebrate the loving, festive jumble of the season: caroling harmonies, brass and bells inflect the band’s roots-y, feel-good sound, recalling beloved Christmas standards yet distinctively fresh and new. The title track is a 50’s rock ‘n’ roll romp, imagining Santa with a souped-up sleigh; lyrical accordion embellishes the Klezmer-inspired ”Rainbow Candles”; the hopeful sing-a-long ”Christmas Wishes” radiates with a lush, Motown treatment, and the band rings out the old and swings in the new in raucous, Dixieland jazz fashion with ”Baby New Year.” Whispers of holiday standards weave cleverly throughout, conjuring up the magic of the holiday season. Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, Revvin’ Up the Reindeer will be your new Holiday Jam!

My Thoughts:
Music has always played a large roll in our family. Between instrumental lessons and chorus groups, we usually have something being played or sang in the house.
Several of these CD’s are for children. They have that “once you hear it you can’ t get it out of your brain” beats that the little ones just love to sing and dance along with anywhere it is played.
My younger crew have enjoyed listening to these cds for children and I have really enjoyed the Ladysmith Black Mambazo. A dear friend of mine is from South Africa and always uses one of the titles of a song when she says goodbye. I had to call her and tell her that I now know how to say it in her language (I don’t … believe me I don’t.. it is pretty bad when I try to say it). The phrase is “Go Well and Peace Be with You” and it is pronounced Hambani Kahle.
So go well and peace be with you this holiday season! All of these CD’s are available on Amazon in several formats. They are included in your prime account streaming too.
Each of these artists have been recognized in the music industry as Grammy Nominees. Their love of music comes through in their work.
We’ve added each of the artists in this CD Collection to our MEGA Christmas Gift Guide! Check it out here!
