Build Your Own Drone, and Fly It With FlyBlocks #MegaChristmas17

November 21, 2017 by Misty Stephens

It is fun to fly remote control vehicles.  These days drones are the cool things to fly, and they are much easier to control than some other types of vehicles.  With FlyBlocks, you not only get to fly a drone, but you get to build one.  In fact you can build four different models with this 4 in 1 Build N’ Fly Drone Kit.

4 in 1 Build N’ Fly Drone Kit includes:

  • 72 Snap on pieces
  • 2 Rubber bands
  • 12 Blades
  • 1 Receiver box
  • 1 Plate Hinge
  • 6 Motors
  • 1 Battery
  • 1 Controller
  • 9 Motor bases
  • 1 USB charging line
  • 1 Manual

My Son’s Reaction

My son was so ecstatic when I gave him this Drone kit.  Since has been wanting a drone for a while now, he was just thrilled to get one.  He also thought it was very neat to be able to build his own.  He opened the box and grabbed the instructions and started skimming them.  This kit has 72 building block pieces, a remote control, and a pre-programmed circuit board.  He was able to be the technician, engineer, and the pilot for his drone.  Plus he can make 4 different models with 4 or 6 axis.

Age Requirement

This kit is for ages 14+, but may need adult intervention.  My son is 16, but as I said before he skimmed the instructions, and slapped a drone together.  Due to his haste the blades spun, but the Drone would not fly.  He put it on a counter and it spun off, separating back into its many pieces.  I was so glad this drone was built to crash and bust apart.  Then you just re assemble it and try again.  After several failed attempts, my husband sat down with him and they read the instructions.  Next they put the blades in the proper places and got the Drone to fly.

Mom’s Thoughts

I really love the idea of this kit.  It is so much cooler to be able to make the drone with your own hands.  Then you can feel a great sense of accomplishment as you fly it in the air.  If I gave this set to my 14 year old son, he would have read the instructions carefully and built a drone just like the instructions showed with no help from an adult.  I say that just to say it is age appropriate, but you know your children best.  I really love to get my children things that will engage their minds,  With this kit they have to really think about how a drone works. This kit helps provide a multi-layered building and flying experience that promotes lifelong skills.  It is also really fun to watch it crash and break apart.  Then you can build it again with 4 different styles to make.

If your child wants a drone this Christmas get him FlyBlocks, so he can fly his own creation.  Therefore he is having fun and learning something while at it!
