About My Little Pony: Equestria Girls
The excitement around My Little Pony continues throughout the year! On November 17, 2017, Hasbro is premiering the first episode of its brand new My Little Pony: Equestria Girls series on YouTube.
Fans can expect more than 45 new, fun and exciting episodes from the series starting Nov. 17, with a new episode rolling out each Friday following the premiere.
The magic of Equestria cannot be contained! It’s found its way into the world of the all new My Little Pony Equestria Girls Digital Series and it’s turning everything on its head. From afterschool clubs to beach days, music festivals to theme parks, and a rockin’ Spring Break on a yacht, magic is sure making things interesting. Join Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity as they learn what it means to be superheroes while they take on their biggest challenge yet: high school.
In addition to the new TV series, Hasbro is releasing a brand new line of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls fashion dolls. In partnership with Laura Shuffman, the official My Little Pony: Equestria Girls celebrity stylist, Hasbro revamped the dolls’ looks from the previous collection, adding new, highly fashionable outfits for all of the Mane 7! The look of these new fashion dolls inspired the look of the characters seen in the upcoming My Little Pony: Equestria Girls series. The new Equestria Girls fashion dolls line will be available for purchase in the U.S. in December 2017 and globally beginning in January 2018.
My Thoughts
I remember the My Little Pony characters from my own childhood, so I was tickled to see they were making a comeback. And it’s not just figures to play with or brush their manes, but now they have apps, games, and more with these same adorable ponies. Even better, there are animated human characters that take your favorite MLP characters and turn into young women and men in the new digital series on YouTube.
I can’t say this is for a really young audience, say for the under six years old crowd, simply due to some of the more tween themes like body confidence, bullying, and relationships. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing inappropriate, but my tween girls are a little better suited than their younger sisters for this series. But I also don’t worry if they are in the room when the movies or shows are playing.
If you are new to the My Little Pony: Equestria Girls world, then here is a little background information:
Equestria Girls follows Princess Twilight Sparkle in the parallel world, which is accessed through a magic mirror. Together, with the counterparts of her pony friends, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rarity and Fluttershy, along with her assistant Spike, Twilight will have to deal with the various magical happenings in Canterlot High.
There have been several short “mini-films” as well as DVD movie titles, specials, and even several books from the same series. So even if your kids aren’t My Little Pony: Equestria Girls by the time they watch their first episode, there is plenty of material to keep them busy in between new episodes every Friday. The first episode is released November 17th, so don’t miss it!
