Are you looking for a great adventure to set forth on? Look no farther because Wendy Terrien has a book trilogy that is creative, action packed, and highly entertaining. I love to read, and so does my 16 year old son. We often read the same books and talk about the story. We both were able to read Rampart Guards and loved it. Now I need to go read the second and third book to see what happens next in the lives of the Jason Lex and his best friend Sadie Callahan.
About Rampart Guards
Jason Lex has to move to a small town after his mother disappears. A small town with no friends, and no fun is bad enough, but then Jason starts seeing flying creatures that no one else can see. He thinks he is losing his mind until he discovers some new information about his family.
There are creatures living alongside the human race, such as Skyfish, Kappa, and the Mongolian Death Worm that are as real as people are. Since these creatures give off dangerous energy that can kill humans, it is important to keep the invisible shield in place. This shield keeps them hidden and protects us, but some force is at work trying to destroy the shield.
Now Jason is in the middle of a war to save those closest to him, and keep the shield in place.
Mom’s Thoughts
I let my son read this book first and he was done in a few days. He said he really liked it, and cannot wait to read the next two books. He thought the story was cool and moved quickly. It kept him interested and engaged. Then I read the book, and I could hardly put it down. The characters were well developed and you really got to know and like them. The book was full of action and surprise. You get to meet fantastic creatures and learn somethings about each kind. It was a very creative story that was well thought out. Most noteworthy to me the struggle Jason had due to the circumstances. He was forced to make some very hard decisions. Luckily he had good friends and a cool dog to help him along.
I love the cover art that is featured on both the book and a Rampart Guards bookmark I have. The colors are intense and interesting, and I think the blue lightning on the cover will appeal to youth. I am sure that youth and adults alike will really get into this book. You may not even need a bookmark of your own because the book is hard to put down.
The Trilogy
After you get to know Jason Lex through his adventure in Rampart Guards, you can learn more about his story through The League of Governors. Then you can find out about his best friend Sadie’s family secret in The Clan Calling.
This trilogy would make an epic Christmas gift for any reader. If you have an avid reader in your family
get them Rampart Guards, The League of Governors, and The Clan Calling, and let the adventure begin.
