Having a family of large or small size can be both rewarding and stressful, as a working mom, I try to do everything in my power to manage a healthy work/life balance. From taking care of the needs of my patients at work to taking care of the needs of my family at home can take me to various stress levels, but I have found several ways to happily and easily manage each task. Here are some tips that I use to help me manage my family overall health and stress.Make Special Together-Time
Work can be a huge distraction at times, but my motto has been and always will be family first. Taking regular time to enjoy togetherness is important. From an extended family vacation in Orlando, to a day trip to the local park are equally as fun and rewarding for all of us. We enjoy quality time together, create memories, laugh and bond. This is something that not only I cherish, but my family will continue and share for generations to come.
Eat Healthy
You children from a very early age are learn habits and daily traits that you maintain each day. Starting them off early with learning how to purchase, prepare and continuously eat healthy is vital. You feel better, they feel better and your overall health and wellness is greatly improved each and every single day. You can even make it memorable and rewarding by getting them involved early in preparing the meals and teaching them the right habits.Consider Adding Pets to the Family
Our house is always a-buzz with four-legged friends and more. Here at Camp Wags, we have a huge home and a huge heart for pets of all sorts. Dogs, cats, ducks, lizards, turtles and more. They bring a large joy into our everyday life and make my family smile. Animals can also improve heart health with joy, walks and fresh air. Consider adding a pet to your family as a great way to bond and love.
Regular Check-Ups
As much as there are everyday essentials that we need to maintain good health, it is equally important to make regular visits with a doctor. We always seem to get our kids to the doctor routinely from birth, but it is equally important to take care of ourselves so that we can continue to enjoy and take care of our family.
Having a trusted, online resource like UnitedHealthcare Virtual Visits make it easy to see a doctor, even from the comfort of my own home.
Medical issues like a stuffy nose, ear infection or sore throat may be considered minor, but it doesn’t feel that way when you have those symptoms. It can be stressful to get an in-person appointment, drive to the doctor’s office and wait in a crowded waiting room to be seen. With UnitedHealthcare Virtual Visits you can see a doctor wherever you are, whenever you like. It is easy to sign up and you can do it from your laptop, tablet or smartphone. They have two great mobile apps, Dr. On Demand & Amwell, that you can sign up in register with in less than 5 minutes.
By visiting the UnitedHealthcare Virtual Visits page, you can schedule and attend doctor appointments at home. The cost is just $40 or less, it allows me to speak with a physician immediately and even get a prescription, if needed. This is more manageable and cost effective.
Laugh Often
Just because we grow up doesn’t mean the fun and laughter have to stop. While we are more responsible with bills, a mortgage, insurance and more, that doesn’t mean we cannot laugh out loud often, live happy and healthy and enjoy what life has to offer. Make memories – attend class parties – indulge in that scoop of ice cream sometimes – all of this make you smile more, laugh often and feel better.
Take Time For Yourself
Remember, no matter how much we love spending time together, everyone needs their own personal “down time”. Taking care of yourself is important so that you can continue to take care of your family. Notch out time in your schedule to soak in the sun, read a good book or enjoy a peaceful nap. Naps are my personal favorite “me time” thing to do.
Remember that life is too short to let stress get in the way. Take some of these tips and apply them to your family life and see how you too an better manage family health and stress. Travel a bit more, cook together, using services like UnitedHealthcare Virtual Visits and laughing are just a few simple ways to manage health, save time and enjoy life more.
