As summer winds down, you’ll probably find yourself using your grill less than ever before. Before the season ends though, you can use some fun and easy ways to make ribs on the grill that your family will love and find some ways to make use of any of the leftovers that you have.
Use Your Favorite Soda
Have you tried recipes for grilling ribs in the past that just didn’t give those ribs the rich flavor that you wanted? An easy way to impart more flavor into ribs is with a soda marinade. The best thing about this recipe is that you can use any type of soda that you have on hand. Dr. Pepper gives the ribs a slightly tart flavor, while Coca-Cola and other sodas give the ribs a sugary flavor. Place the ribs in a large bag or bowl with an airtight lid, cover with soda and let sit in the fridge overnight before grilling.
Grill in Foil
If you need to make ribs quickly and don’t have a lot of time, make packets from aluminum foil. Place the ribs inside a sheet of foil with the edges rolled up. Sprinkle with some of your favorite seasonings and spices like granulated onion and garlic powder, add a small amount of liquid like beer or beef stock and fold the top over. Roll up the edges to create a packet that you place on the hottest part of the grill. Near the end of the cooking time, remove the ribs from the packet and place right on the grate.
Start with a Slow Cooker
An even easier way to reduce the time it takes to cook ribs is with a slow cooker. Toss cut up ribs in your slow cooker with enough liquid to come up just to the top. Sprinkle BBQ seasoning or a combination of spices in the pot and stir. Once the ribs are almost fully cooked, you can put them right on the grill to get the smoky flavor you want.
Make Sandwiches from Leftovers
Transform any of the leftover ribs that you have into delicious sandwiches. Slather one piece of bread with butter and place in a pan. Cover the top with some rib meat, grated or sliced cheddar cheese and a little BBQ sauce. Butter a second piece of bread, place on top, cook one side until golden brown and flip to cook the other side before serving. You can also get creative in using the rib meat for other meals, such as soft tacos.
You can visit a restaurant like Tony Roma’s for excellent ribs, but with the right cooking methods and sandwiches made from leftovers, you can make delicious ribs yourself and use any you don’t eat the first night later. End the summer on a delicious note with some of these ideas in mind!
