Hanging pictures is one of my favorite things to do besides taking the pictures. I love seeing my favorites every time I walk into my home. But, many times, I hang the picture then step back to see a huge mess! Now that I have the Hang-O-Matic, I don’t have to worry about lopsided pictures and hanging them uneven every again!
The Hang-O-Matic was developed by a husband and wife team after a remodeling project turned into several trips to the store for wall-patching supplies. What started out as a shelf hanging project turned into patching, painting and rehanging the shelf. Once they had the shelf up, they placed a sentimental piece of their lives on the shelf to only hear it shatter a few moments later. The shelf was uneven by only a fraction of an inch. The husband pulled out a prototype of the Hang-O-Matic that he developed in college and hung the shelf the very first time he used it. Between his design and her savvy business sense, the Hang-O-Matic was born.
This is a very cool little gadget. For starters, it’s a measuring tape (six foot long) that has a movable level attached to it to make sure you’re level the first time you hang anything. It has anchor points to help with marking the wall where you’re going to attach the mounting hardware to the nail (or screw or mounting strips).
There is a button on the front of the Hang-O-Matic that holds the tape measure in place in order to help with measuring and hanging. To finish off the design, there is a lid to keep all the parts in good working order.
Here’s how it works:
Measure the object, sliding the anchor points to match the objects mounting hardware.
Level the Hang-O-Matic on the wall in the location you want to hang your object. The bubble in the level will appear in the center when level.
Mark the location to nail into the wall by pressing the markers on the ruler. The Hang-O-Matic will leave two small indents indicating where to place the nail.
Hang the object, using the nail holes made by the markers. Your object will hang perfectly the first time if used correctly.
