I wish exercise was easy. I wish it didn’t take any time. I wish it was effortless.
But wait- it can be!
When my first son was born, I lost all my pregnancy weight in the first few days. Then I gained it all right back…
When I became pregnant with my second, I was already twenty pounds heavier than I was in my ninth month with my first. When Baby Y was born, I lost all of ten pounds, leaving me at about 50 pounds heavier than before I started having babies!
A lot of this I attribute to my sedentary lifestyle. I work from home, on the computer all day. I have little time to exercise, and, due to my lifestyle, don’t get the bare minimum of moderate activity that I need to be healthy.
But wait – I’m exercising as we speak! How can that be?!
The answer to all my concerns was apparently Cubii. I know because I kept track. And I now get at least half an hour of moderate activity a day, and often more.

About Cubii:
Cubii is an under-desk elliptical. It’s actually a very smart under-desk elliptical (as if it wasn’t that just by virtue of it being… an under-desk elliptical!)
It sits under your desk, compelling you to just put your feet on it, and exercise while you’re working. And it connects to your device using Bluetooth, to let you know how you’re doing.
Okay, I’m not exactly running marathons on it. But to maintain health and to live a wholesome lifestyle, I do need a certain amount of moderate physical activity a day, and this fulfills that need. And yes, it is quite mindless (especially if you fidget a lot like I do.)
“Cubii was invented by three University of Chicago graduates in their early 20s. Reading the plethora of studies showing the necessity of moderate amounts of exercise all day to help reduce risk for heart disease, diabetes, even certain kinds of cancer, they decided to get more active in their workday. Constrained with limited desk exercise solutions in their own workplace, they decided to leave their jobs and create their own office wellness product. Thus, Cubii was born.”

Cubii Features and Review:
In the box: My Cubii came with everything I needed to assemble it. And by that I mean EVERYTHING. I didn’t even have to go grab the screwdriver.
Assembly: Assembly took literally minutes and I did it on my own. Well, my toddler helped…
Use: My husband tested it out first, and loved it. It goes very smoothly and easily. The pedal motions are more ergonomic than typical bike pedals.
It slides right under the desk, where it hides discreetly. Not that I need it to hide – this piece is quite a beauty! As you can see, there is a handle in the center. This is a sturdy piece of equipment, which means that it’s heavy too. The handle gives me a grip to easily slide it in and out from under my desk so that I can find the ideal position. It glides on my rough floor due to the base.
At first, I did have trouble with my knees bumping the desk. Then I realized that I wasn’t sitting properly. Once I corrected, that, my mindless exercise went smoothly. I also improved my desk posture, which is an extra perk that Cubii has provided for me.
Cubii runs very quietly, which means that you won’t disturb your coworkers if you’re in an office environment.
Tension: Cubii has various strength levels so that you can choose the one that works best for you. I started out with eight, but found five to be my perfect middle-ground.
Connectivity: Have I mentioned that Cubii also connects to my device? Yes, I think I did say something about it being smart.
The app (free, iOS and Android) is very simple and streamlined. I connected my Cubii within minutes (it does need to be charged, micro USB charger included.) It connects via Bluetooth and tracks calories burned, time, and mileage. You can also set goals.
The Cubii unit held its charge very well (I haven’t needed to recharge since I did it initially over a week ago.)
And finally, the Cubii comes with stoppers to put on your chair wheels. I haven’t found them to be so helpful, primarily because my toddler likes to take them off and play with them. But I haven’t found my chair wheeling to be a big deterrent. I can use Cubii well enough without the stoppers.
Cubii Review Summary:
My Cubii provides me with the perfect solution – the solution I needed. It took minutes to set up and mindlessly provides me that basic level of activity that allows me to care for my heart health despite my sedentary lifestyle.
I do think this product is a must for anyone who sits at a desk all day, and is a worthwhile investment into long-term health.
