Valentine’s Day is swiftly approaching, and decisions on what to get the love of your life should be on your mind. There is the classic flowers and chocolate, but flowers die and chocolate doesn’t last long. I wanted to do something different for my husband this year. I have done the chocolates, massage coupons, poems and all manner of things. Then I saw Old Barn Rescue, and knew that would be something that would last, and he could think of me when he glanced at our bedroom wall.
About Old Barn Rescue
Old Barn Rescue started out as handmade wooden decor using interesting pieces of old barn wood, and other reclaimed wood. Adonna one of the founders would add her lovely calligraphy to many items. Her writing was so popular they had to find a way to mass produce her lettering without ruining the integrity of their vintage materials. They came up with vinyl. It is easy to cut and versatile. It works on their reclaimed materials and also looks great on walls, so in 2008 they added a wall decor department. The matte finishes look great and are “green.” They use a vinyl manufacturer that has the most green process of any out there, and has been certified “a green product.” Old Barn Rescue and the vinyl company they use are always looking for ways to reduce the impact they make on the environment.
This year you can surprise your loved one with a statement of your love, big and bold on the wall. Think of how many times they can enjoy the sentimentality of the phrase you chose. There are a bunch of different love sayings to chose from. There are also Bible scriptures, graphics, famous quotes, and decals you can personalize with names. I think it would be great for an anniversary to have a decal that says your last name and “established” with the year you were married. How romantic to have that put on your wall for everyone to see.
I ordered three products from Old Barn Rescue, and I was thrilled with all three. I got to chose the sayings and I then got to chose the color of the words. I chose the love story saying in white to show up on my teal bedroom walls. Then I chose the word Thankful in copper because my hallway borders a room that uses browns and a terra cotta reds. Lastly I chose an adorable owl in geyser blue to put on my laptop. These decals can go on walls, computers, and even cars.
These decals were very fast and easy to put on the wall. You peel off the backing and then place the picture where you want it to go. You need to figure out the exact placement before you remove the backing. On the larger pictures you can use a hinge method that is detailed with your decal from the company. They even send you test graphics to practice with. After you remove the backing you put the picture where you want it.
Once it is against the wall take a credit card and scrape the picture to get it to stick well to the wall. Then you slowly peel off the paper, and the image stays on the wall. On the Thankful word it stuck to the wall great and went so quick and easy.
The Love story was a little more challenging because the words were all separate, but it came out good. I think the paint in my bedroom made it tougher. Now that it is on, I think it looks so good. The Thankful really added dimension to my living room, and it was so much easier than painting the room or trying to get that effect by painting it on myself. The words are so pretty, I love them on my walls. I feel like I need several more in different rooms of the house to express different things.
Which love saying will your valentine get this year?
