When I was young, car cleaning was a weekly task. Each Sunday all of the vehicles in our yard were cleaned, vacuumed, washed, and all fluids were checked. My dad was very particular about this and if I couldn’t make time in my schedule to do it on Sunday, I wasn’t allowed to leave the house in my car on Monday morning.
I was raised as an only child…. it appears my parents and I had whole lot more time of their hands than I do now as a mother of six. I’m lucky if our SUV gets cleaned once a month. If you’re like me, and you really want to get your spouse something spectacular for Valentine’s Day, get his car detailed. Seriously, nothing will get his attention more! Getting in the a car with no toys, jackets, old sippy cups, candy wrappers, baby blankets, baby dolls, crayons, and dried play-doh on the floor AND finally getting that sticky door handle cleaned will make his day bright for several days thereafter.
The first trick is figuring out a reason to use his vehicle without him knowing what you really need it for. If hubby has a truck, this will be easy; just tell him you need it to pick something up that doesn’t fit in your vehicle. If your significant other drives a car, suggest that you take advantage of ladies day at your dealership’s service department.
Up next is finding an experienced detailer or doing a little research to do it yourself. There are several articles on how to properly perform a DIY car detail with almost professional results; grab the right supplies and be ready for an all day project. Top it off with a cute card in the driver’s seat and it will be a Valentine’s Day gift he won’t forget!
