Cache a Predator is a geocaching thriller about a father’s love, justice, and the unhinged game of hide-the-cache.
Officer Brett Reed will do anything to gain custody of his five-year-old daughter, Quinn. But when a judge grants Brett’s drug-addicted ex-wife custody and slaps him with a protective order for losing his temper, he fears for Quinn’s safety. Who will protect her now?
When Quinn is found abandoned on the streets, she’s placed in a temporary foster home until Child Protective Services can complete an assessment. It should only take a few days.
But a lot can happen in a few days.
Especially when there’s a deranged psychopath on the loose, someone who’s attacking pedophiles, someone who wants to protect children like Quinn, and someone who’s planting body parts in geocaching sites.
This book is hidden in cache sites all over the US and Canada with the goal for it to travel to all 50 states. It’s mission is to spread awareness of child abuse and how it harms victims, families, and communities.

My Review:
My family and I just started GeoCaching and I was very excited to read Cache a Predator! My son is 12 and likes to read the same books I do, like Hunger Games, Maze Runner and more. This is not a book for Tweens or Teens. It involves some graphic, violent and sexual components that are no appropriate for him. That being said, it is a great read for adults. It is one of my favorite types of books to read- Action/Mystery novel. It does involve GeoCaching in that the suspect hides a certain body part in larger GeoCaches in the area around the poor victim’s house.
This book really makes you think about child abuse, sex offenders and substance abuse. All of these are intertwined in a custody battle between a loving father Officer Reed and his alcoholic ex-wife. Their 5-year old daughter, Quinn, who practically takes care of herself, is put into Child Protective Services after she is found walking the streets alone, looking for her dog. CPS didn’t realize that this foster parent had a son who was a sex offender. To make things even worse, the deranged predator that has been attacking pedophiles actually attacks this sex offender in the house that Quinn is living in temporarily. Thinking he/she is taking Quinn out of a bad situation, he kidnaps Quinn. From there, it keeps getting more and more intense. Even Ali, Quinn’s alcoholic mother, is fighting for her life after a car crash.
One thing that stands strong in the midst of all the chaos is Officer Reed’s love of his daughter. No one, not even CPS can deny that he loves his daughter and would do anything to get her back. He about loses his mind as he tries to find the GeoCache predator to save his daughter. Will he succeed? I can’t give away the ending. You’ll have to read it for yourself.
Overall, Cache a Predator may not have been the book I expected, but was definitely a page-turner. It really makes you look at your life and those around you- do you really know your neighbors? Children should be able to feel safe in their own home, unlike Quinn. It’s a book about the love of a father for his daughter and his journey to seek justice for Quinn before it’s too late. I highly recommend this book for all you mystery readers who need an original plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page!
