#EndSuicide – ASP Out of the Darkness Walk- Portsmouth NH 9/27- Please help!

September 8, 2014 by Pam Maynard

In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 13.3 minutes, claiming more than 39,500 lives each year. It is estimated that an attempt is made every minute, with close to one million people attempting suicide annually. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. among adults 18-65, the second leading cause of death among teens and young adults, and individuals ages 65 and older account for 16 percent of all suicide deaths. This is a public health issue that does not discriminate by age, gender, ethnicity, or socio-economic status. Walk to save lives, find an event near you and register today!

On September 27, 2014, my friend Kathy will be participating in The Out of The Darkness Walk on Pierce Island, Portsmouth NH. This walk is dedicated to those who have lost family members to suicide, to those family members who have been blessed not to have lost their family members to suicide and for those family members who are struggling with a loved one who suffers from mental illness. Her family has been blessed with the survival of two beautiful family members who tried to take their own lives and have been given another chance. We are so thankful to still have them with us, today. Mikaela and Nichole, we love you so much and pray for your recovery and strength each and every day.  God Bless you and your families as you go through each new day together.

The walk benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Any donation would be appreciated by us. You can send your contribution to: http://afsp.donordrive.com. Find the team name  Mikaela & Nichole . Thank you so much for your support. ~Kathy
