Worn Winter Wheels? A Guide to Buying New Winter Tires

November 24, 2017 by Pam Maynard

Most people know that car crashes increase during the winter season due to weather conditions. There are several factors that could contribute to this. For example, snow hinders visual accuracy, but one common problem is improper tires. You should make sure you have good winter tires this season, and the following guide will help you find the right ones.

Worn Winter Wheels? A Guide to Buying New Winter Tires

Look for a Warranty

The first thing you should do is look for tires that come with a warranty. If the tires come with a factory warranty, this tells you that the manufacturer stands by their workmanship and are proud of it. This could mean that the tires you are considering may be good quality. Make sure the tires give you at least 20,000 miles.

Stick to Four

It is easy for a car owner to simply buy two winter tires during the winter to save a little cash. The two that are normally purchased are the axle tires. This is done because the car’s power rests on these two tires. It might makes sense to just buy those two, but that would be a mistake. Optimal grip and control relies on you having all four tires.

Be a Savvy Buyer

Those looking for a good discount should definitely spend some time before purchasing snow tires. For example, it might be a good idea to purchase your new tires before the winter season actually gets here. There is a good chance you are going to luck out if you purchase your tires early. It would also be a good idea to see what kinds of packages tire stores like Discount Tire Centers or similar chains offer. Remember to always stay within budget.

Consider Installation

Getting a good deal on tires is not the only thing you need to worry about. It is important that your tire shop offers a good deal on installation. The only way to find out if you are getting a good idea is to ask a number of tire shops about their installation fee to make sure you are where you want to be. Do not be afraid to purchase your tires in one place and install them somewhere else.

Hopefully, these pointers help ensure that you get the right tires when you need them. Do not wait too long because the last thing you want is to see that first snow fall and get caught without the proper gear.
