How to Take Some Hassle out of Your Busy Family Schedule

October 19, 2017 by Pam Maynard

Your family is always on the go. There are so many activities and events to attend, plus the shopping and errands that need to be done. Some days you feel completely overwhelmed by your to-do list and would do anything to make your life simpler.

Some great suggestions and tips to help you get control of your schedule could include the following.

How to Take Some Hassle out of Your Busy Family Schedule

Get Organized

Start by planning each day on paper, preferably in some type of planner. List all of the tasks that need to be done and the places you need to go. Decide if there is anything that can be removed or even delayed until a better or more convenient time.

Update your calendar often and communicate your expectations and your needs to all of your family members. Establish a central location in your house where a master calendar can be maintained for everyone to list their activities. The kitchen or a hallway wall are great places to post this necessary communication.

Plan Ahead

Get the entire family involved in planning out a schedule for the week or even the month. Often you can save time and gas by making sure your travel routes are planned so they use time and fuel efficient as possible. Planning ahead can be as simple as preparing for the next day the night before, choosing clothes, making lunches, and making sure there is gas in the car.

Prioritize

Learn to say no to activities and events that hold no real value for your family. Going to the mall and window-shopping might not be worth the time, and can offer many temptations you cannot afford.

Every time you decide to go to a shop or store, make a point to ask yourself if you really need anything from that venue. If the answer is no, do not go in. You will save yourself both time and money. Watch for other “empty” activities that you normally engage in and delete them from your calendar.

Reward Yourself

When you gain control of your time and your schedule, make a point to reward yourself by going out to Tony Roma’s for some finger-licking ribs, or making an appointment for a manicure or pedicure. When you gain more time, it also gives you more opportunities to relax and enjoy the great things in life.

Getting your schedule under control is not as difficult as it may appear to be. Following the preceding suggestions will have you well on your way to becoming the together person you want to be.
